My friend had a Groupon for 4 so we decided to give this place a try. Parking was easy to find on a Saturday night (the house is located right behind the P. Terry's burger stand). Entering House Wine you are welcomed by a nice outdoor lounge with plenty of seating space and sometimes live music. The bar is inside the house where you order the cheese plates, drinks, etc. There is also a back space outside behind the bar with couches if you want a more intimate experience.
Cheese Platter: Have you ever had the dilemma of whether you should dip your Tostitos chip in the queso or the salsa? That's how I felt with the cheeses. I couldn't decide if I should just eat the cheese with the cracker, or dip the cheese in the jam, or dip the cheese in the jam and eat it with the cracker. Gah!
The platter consisted of 5 cheeses, rosemary cracker, garlic bread, pita chips, grapes, pear slices, honey roasted pecans, dark chocolate, peach jam from Fredericksburg, and Tuscan Olive Three cheese spread. Out of the 5 cheeses, Brie was my favorite, which unfortunately had the least amount of slices on the plate. My friends and I had to take small nibbles to savor the delicious taste. We also order a bottle of Pinot Grigio which went well with the platter.
Dessert: A huge "you cannot finish this" s'mores platter. Regular graham crackers, marshmallows, and Hershey's chocolate with a personal fire. Honestly even though it's an average dessert, seeing your friends freak out from flaming marshmallows is very entertaining. At the end, we got a to-go box for the leftover chocolates.
Advice: Go at night on a cool day. Eat a...
Read moreCame here this past Sunday with friends to relax and have some wine. I had never heard of the establishment prior to this visit. My friend who lives in the area recommended we go as on Sunday's they have 1/2 off glasses of wine from bottles previously opened. Needless to say my mind was blown!
I only ordered off the daily special menu and stuck with red wine; however, they have designated list for both white and red wines indicating which are on special. I started out with a Tempranillo then switched to a Bordeaux. They were both great tasting flavorful wines which usually sold for $10 and were marked at $5. My friends sampled the white wines which didn't seem to have that large of selection on special; nonetheless, his was tasty. Their normal wine menu is well rounded and plentiful. They also carry bubbly but that’s not on special on Sundays. Food is also available and we tried the Mediterranean plate; great tasting humus! We munched on some dark chocolate as we drank wine throughout; perfect for savoring the flavors of the wine.
I really enjoyed the layout of the place. It was a cute house rehabbed with outdoor and indoor seating. We sat outdoors as it wasn’t too hot and their mist fans were blowing. On the side of the house they have three sofa sectionals where parties can chill and order without having to go inside.
This place was a great discovery! I will definitely be back and not...
Read more*edit to clarify what the business response clearly misunderstood. We were a wine tour of 6 people. When we showed up, there were approximately 14 customers already there, who had already been served, one table getting ready to leave, not newly arriving with us. I asked for what is in the flights because some of us have allergies but after the blank stares (practically a glare from the male with the mustache) and lack of helpful response, we opted not to buy flights.
This is a smaller place and the staff seemed overwhelmed by the approximately 20 customers they had. We came in on a wine tour, just 6 of us (we were part of that 20 count i mentioned above). We sat in the corner benches, which are super cute, and tried to figure out what we wanted since we intended to do a "tasting". There are flight names listed in the menu but not what they include. I went up to the bar/ordering area to ask how we know what's in the flights and the guy and girl behind the counter gave me blank stares and said they pick wines that are appropriate to the flight name... we each ordered a glass of wine instead, and promptly left. I actually recommended to the wine tour co that they take it off their list as this doesn't seem like a place for a...
