Very unhappy with my experience at Mary's Cafe today. After waiting 45 minutes for two bagel sandwiches I checked in with the staff to ask about the order. They said my order had not gone through as a result of using Apple Pay (that Apple Pay was causing issues on their online ordering system) and I would have to order again. I asked if I would be charged twice for the sandwiches and was told that I needed to pay again upfront and that the online orders would "probably be refunded."

Another customer was told the wait would be 40 minutes, and I was given no reason to believe my new order would be given any priority. The staff were incredibly rude when initially entering the restaurant, we were told not to save any table space for friends meeting us there. Which is just fine and we happily gave up additional seating, but did not appreciate the tone and hostility from the blonde female employee who confronted us. The staff were rude again when trying to work out the missed order.

Having seen no other customers (to-go or dine in) have an Apple Pay issue for the 45 minutes waiting inside the restaurant, I truly believe the staff purposefully ignored my order--and that any duplicate charges would not have been refunded.

I would NOT recommend Mary's Cafe to anyone and ended up leaving hungry and without the sandwiches after choosing not to reorder. I intend to return in the future if my initial payment is...

I was super excited to see that they had "real" Liege waffles. I'd been craving them ever since returning home from Brussels pre-covid. Sadly, these were only ok.

We ordered for take out because they close at 2, and it was already 1:30... got there at 1:45 and they were all ready to go -- so thumbs up on the service!

We decided we couldn't wait so we sat in our car and ate them in the parking lot. The good news is that the dough itself was a decent brioche dough, but the bad news is it seems like they totally forgot to add the pearl sugar, which when added carmelizes the outside of the waffle so it turns out crispy and sugary on the outside and soft and doughy on the inside. The pearl sugar is the reason why Belgians can eat waffles straight up without any syrup. But these had no carmelized sugar and were kind of soggy without any sweetness that we had to dunk them in the pancake sugar syrup (pretty sure it's not maple syrup) so it wouldn't be too bland.

If you cover them in Nutella or whipped cream or other toppings, you probably won't notice, but I wouldn't recommend this place for their Liege waffles. Maybe their other stuff is great so if I came back, I'd skip the waffles and order...

It's very small. Small coffee is 3.24. the bagel breakfast sandwich is good. Pricey. However. I purchased a coffee and sandwich went outside to eat on the bench. I've been there several times in the same week but homeless man walks up as I'm talking to them and guy comes storming out of MARYS yelling for us to get off the bench and leave. Homeless man walks off and I stayed to finish my coffee and was smoking a cig when 2nd guy storms out saying I had been WARNED to leave and to LEAVE. I put my cig out and sat there as he threatened to call police. I encouraged him to do so as I finished my coffee and sandwich I had purchased at their .MARYS establishment. Shocked and bewildered. I'm 66 yrs old and wear a prosthetic leg. I've been in the same house 1 block away for 63 years and have NEVER been treated with such bad rude and dis-corteous behaviour. I assume he thought I was homeless. NEVER will I go there again and SHAME! I've currently filed a report against that establishment. Don't judge a book by it's cover. Once again . Shame shame shame on MARY'S on RED RIVER in...

Great little place. Located just off I35 on Red River, Mary's is one of those uniquely Austin eating establishments you have to find first, then enjoy. This visit, I kept it simple: Plain Waffle and a Megas wrap. The waffle was delicious; crispy outside and fluffy inside with plenty of body. I see why this is top seller with all the add on options they offer, I'll try the next on with strawberries and whip cream. The megas wrap was and explosion of flavor. They don't skimp on key ingredients, like eggs and avocado which are in abundance. Somehow they have found a way to allow each of the ingredients to layer flavor on your taste buds so just as soon as you've finished tasting it, another delicious flavor layer takes center stage. I'm highly recommending this as an option for first timers to this awesome Austin original restaurant. I'll try and do coffee and espresso options next time as everyone is usually drawn here for those offerings first, but I'm a food guy first. The staff is friendly, quick, competent and talented.

I was hungover the other day after spending the night at someone’s house when I needed a pick me up before work. I came here hoping to come back to life and boy did it heal my woe’s. I had the Mary had a little lamb waffle which was stuffed with banana filling and had peanut butter on top which was delicious and filling. I didn’t know how filling it was so I ordered a side of Eggs etc and left the place stuffed and feeling way better. The eggs in my eyes were fried to perfection, the waffle itself was savory and satisfying and the staff for 7 something in the morning were cool and helpful. Lastly the atmosphere was great, a real Mary based cafe. If you work near bye or live around the area you have a hidden gem near ya since this place is delicious and reasonably priced. For a very filling breakfast I payed 15 (with tip). So overall this placed is reasonably priced, definitely not cheap but not expensive and great quality food. Highly recommend checking it out
