I came in here on the weekend and it was not busy at all. I don’t even drink coffee and I’ve been to Starbucks several times for a lemonade or tea. This time I ordered a lemonade and my friend got a coffee that was poured at the cash register. My lemonade got put in a drink queue and after 10 minutes of waiting and still no drink I went over to ask the barista if my drink was in Queue. Instead of having any decent customer service training, Jen K looked at me as if I had the audacity to ask about her methodology of making drinks, and replied that I had to be patient and that she’s sure my drink is in her Queue. If I was a manager at any store and I heard my worker talking to a customer with her tone and entitled sense of self, I’d have her fired immediately and not even give her a chance to learn how to treat a customer. I then went back to my seat in shock and told my friend what happened and we were both appalled. After seeing people who ordered drinks after me get their drinks, I went back up and said that she didn’t have to be rude and I was simply asking if my drink order even existed because how is it that somebody after me ordering a complex drink is getting their drink before a simple pour lemonade. She got even ruder at this point and said you will have to be patient it is in my queue and I’ll get to it when I get to it. Moments later I saw her bend over to a refrigerator, pour the lemonade and yell out my name. At the end of my time in Starbucks I went to the cashier to ask for the manager. The manager is not here. So I ask for a comment card. There’s no comment card. OK so what is the managers name and email address so I can contact them to let them know about Jen K’s attitude and service today. We’re not allowed to give out her email address. At this point I was livid because how pathetic is it that I can’t even submit a complaint to Starbucks. The lack of training Of any sense of customer service at this location is beyond infuriating. after getting the name of the manager I left and called corporate to lodge a formal complaint against Jen K the entitled barista. Simply giving me the number to corporate or letting me know that I could lodge a complaint online would’ve been an easy solution just as it would’ve been easy for Jen K to pretend that she looked for my ticket to validate that it was actually in her Queue. But instead both the cashier and Jen K made it like a game of me trying to get information from them and them having a power-play of withholding it from me. After lodging the complaint to corporate I was told that I would be contacted by the general manager of that location named Melissa Bowman. Today I still have not gotten a response from Melissa Bowman and it looks like this is a contributing factor and root cause of customer support problems at this location. If the general manager can’t even respond to a customer complaint as thorough as mine, no wonder the baristas feel entitled and like they don’t have any problem being rude to a customer since their own boss doesn’t even have the capability to respond to customer feedback in a timely...
Read moreStarbucks is hardly "local" to Austin. However, their coffee is well known across America,, and a convenient stop for early morning risers.
I've been to this particular location at 5th and Lamar a few times over the last few days while I'm town, as a local, but also traveling, musician.
The service I received from Dianne and her coworkers was great the first two visits.
My complaint today though, is that I visited once again this morning 07/05/2025, and after I asked the young woman working behind the counter for a simple glass of TAP WATER, I was met with the response of "You have to purchase something before I can give you water". As if water consumption isn't a fundamental need and right to humans everywhere. The sheer inhumanity of this town is really becoming sickening to me, much like overly sweetened, over-priced coffee drinks have become.
HOWDY. THIS IS TEXAS. it's only 72° outside right now, but will be 95° by the end of the natural day.
HEY SEATTLE! If your employees can't be bothered to share the very tap water with which your fancy coffee drinks are produced, perhaps we will just have to start distributing our water more selectively, by favor of local...
Read moreThis location is horrible I witnessed the worse treatment of another human this morning by the staff - so bad that it brought me to tears ... With all the crap and hate going on this world you would expect more compassion. I love Starbucks and frequent a different location every day and this was my first and last time I will ever visit this location - y'all should be ashamed of yourselves and I hope one day y'all will have an opportunity to apologize to this man. After he was kick out by security ( which they never gave him a reason ) I had an opportunity to talk with him - to look in his eyes as tears filled them and hear him say - this is normal as a black man it's not the first nor the last time this will happen. The situation could have been handled completely different but because the staff jumped the gun and called security - the man was embarrassed and made a fool of In front of 100 people - I wish I knew his name. Praying for his...
