Wanted to eat at Food Truck Park while visiting Austin as they're known for having great food trucks and it was a nice day to eat outside. I was near the Airport, so The Picnic wasn't far away and the Barton Springs area is nice. I reviewed the food trucks I picked separately, so this is simply over The Picnic. There was plenty of parking and it was easy to get in and out of the Food Truck Park. There were approximately 20 picnic tables and 8 food trucks. Tables were relatively clean with adequate spacing, trash receptacles that weren't overflowing, and not many flies. There were also water bowls at every table for the pets. There was a good variety of food trucks with different dishes. There were also about 5 trucks in the park, but across the parking lot, but I wasn't sure if they were art vendors or just decoration. Every food truck had a $1 coupon for gelato, but I didn't see that food truck until I was leaving. It's located facing Barton Springs Road right where you turn into the parking lot. Overall, this is a nice Food Truck Park that's well-maintained with a nice variety of food trucks.

The picnic is a neat spot to hang out and explore a few food trucks with friends in Austin, TX.

I stopped by on a Friday night and ended up meeting another group of friends there -- anyone who's gone out on a Friday night knows it's next to impossible to find a last minute table for 10 at a restaurant, but it was really doable to find a table for our group while we were at The Picnic. It's never really empty until the trucks close down for the day, but usually you can time it so you can jump into a table as another group is leaving.

The selection of food trucks is decent, but you'll probably notice one or two food trucks get most of the attention (we all went to Coat & Thai). The only real downside is that since everyone is left to bus their own table, you might end up at a relatively messy table, but this is mostly resolved by just grabbing an extra napkin or two to wipe down your area. Oh also! They have a great covered seating area with picnic tables, and have some exceptionaly powerful overhead fans in that area. This is awesome for staying cool in the Texas heat, but can get annoying if you're trying to eat/ make sure your hair is styled lol.

Overall, I'd recommend checking out The Picnic! You should be able to find a good food truck option for most of your party and it's great that you'll likely be able to find a table to...

Looking at the review score of this place, it's pretty overrated, in my opinion.

There is a decent variety of food here of which I tried a few different options. Had a Brisket quesadilla and chips & queso from the Taco truck, a burger and cheese fries from the Burger truck, and a chicken plate with a side of falafel from the Mediterranean truck. All of the food was pretty meh, nothing blew me away. Burger felt like it may have been steam heated and came with absolutely nothing on it, just meat and cheese. The queso was lackluster, and the quesadilla had a laughable amount of Brisket in it with cheese that wasn't fully melted. The Mediterranean food was the best of the bunch, but still just decent at best. All of it was overpriced either because the portion was too small, the food was low quality, or both.

As far as the area, there's lots of seating available, albeit the tables honestly felt a bit gross to eat at. Restrooms are available on-site, which is nice, although I didn't use them so I can't attest to their level of cleanliness.

Overall, there's a lot of choices here but I'd suggest going somewhere else. It's small portions of overpriced, lower quality food. I didn't try the Cone truck, the Thai truck, the Italian truck, or the Po'boy truck, so your mileage may vary with those. I probably won't be going back to try them...

Google said they opened at 10am on saturday but only some of the trucks had employees show up to start prepping. At 11am only 3 trucks were open (Lobster Roll, Venezuela & Italian), about half were open by 11:30am and almost all were open by 12pm.

Losbter roll was tasty but not worth the $$ in my opinion. Their tater tots were phenomenal but their slaw needed seasoning. Eating the slaw with the tots was surprisingly tasty tho. I think their Philly might have been a better choice for the $.

The cannoli at the italian truck was the best Cannoli I have had anywhere! I kind of wish I had tried their savory food.

The Thai place had very tasty Thai Tea but kind of wish they put less ice in it.

The chicken taco Cone Truck was average but pricey for the quality. We wouldn't order that again.

The BBQ truck was one of the first ones prepping at 10am but my boyfriend got tired of waiting for them to open. They opened right when we left a little after noon.

Overall, I wish they all would open at a consistent time. I saw several other people waiting for the bbq truck only to end up ordering at the first 3 that opened.

I would definitely come back here next time I am in Austin. Beats waiting 3-5 hours for Franklin's BBQ when we have Pappa Delta Blues Smokehouse...
