I normally donât write a review but I felt that this poor experience was worthy of it. This was our first time in Colorado. My husband and I booked a beautiful apartment suite at the Westin Hotel in Avon, CO. We were recommended to go eat at the Mirabelle restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We walked over hoping to have a good night but unfortunately as soon as we walked into the restaurant it was very apparent that the only attention that you got was based on if you were someone from the neighborhood (a doctor, lawyer or someone that made a lot of money). Anybody that had booked a reservation through OpenTable was going to be disregarded.
After waiting 30 minutes for our table, we chose to do the fixed menu (which by the way was $150 per person) thinking that it would give us really good service and sadly it was the total opposite!! Of the four course menu, two courses were literally run through our table within ten minutes of us sitting down. We even had to ask the waiter to please stop bringing the courses out so we could actually enjoy and finish our wine pairings. Overall the food was okay, the food felt as it was prepared awhile ago, not fresh, just heated, nothing specialâŠnot Michelin star worthy. During our failed meal experience, the owner was going around saying hi to all the tables that she knew but didnât even bother to come and say hello to the new patrons.
What the owner doesnât know is that weâve visited many countries (France, Italy, Germany, Africa, etc.). We have enjoyed many meals in different countries but unfortunately at Mirabelle, the owner and waiters treated us like we were beneath the service that we deserved. **If you are of any different culture other than white or affluent do not frequent the Mirabelle restaurant, they will treat you like a second class citizen. Save your money and go elsewhere, where you and your money...

This beautiful French restaurant serves a delicious slice of French cuisine. The French palate can be a little tricky for Americans, some of my party felt that the food lacked a bit of the punch that they were used to (the Sweet Summer Peas Ravioli and Summer Yellow Corn Soufflé to them felt a bit lacking in the flavor they were used to). However, if you chose wisely your options and have an open mind for an international palate it should be quite delicious. There is a kid's menu for the less advanced palate.
I had the Hot Foie Gras as the starter, that is paired with a Sauternes that really enhances the flavor tenfold. I then had the Colorado Rack of Lamb, which is really more of a single lamp pop with a bit of extra on the side, than an entire rack. Nevertheless, it was extremely flavorful and perfectly cooked to my liking (rarer than the normal medium-rare)
Although the food portions are small, in traditional French tradition, it should be enough if you had breakfast and lunch. You don't go to a French restaurant starving it is supposed to be a relaxing meal to enjoy with friends and family. It you are really really hungry after skiing or a bike ride, I suggest WYLD, they will fill up your empty stomach tank American style. No, but this is French cuisine and is about more than the food. It is also about the service, atmosphere and the company you are with.

Read moreMy Family and I recently dined here during a brief stay at the Village. We had heard rave reviews from friends and strangers alike praising the food and thought this place has to be fantastic. The restaurant is quaint in what appears to be an old retrofitted home. As you walk in the bar is striking with a rustic yet elegant feel. The atmosphere is very intimate with minimal tables. To start, cocktails were fantastic and garnished to perfection. The food was another discussion all together. The food was good. I actually have no complaints about the flavors, consistency or the preparation. My elk was done to perfection and was very good. What I do have issue with is the portions, which are bordering on insulting. In fact as a patron I am insulted. For the price/food ratio, this is the most expensive meal I have ever had. To start, I received the elk with a vegetable medley. I was expecting a medley of vegetables. What I received was 1/2 of 1 Brussels sprout and 1/2 of 1 small carrot. Vegetable medley is a half of 2 small vegetables I guess. The entire plate was approximately 6 ounces for an entree. Unfortunately the rest of my table had the same experience. I believe it was more than $55 dollars a plate for that. We ended up going out and having Pizza after because we were all still so hungry. Probably the most insulting experience I a have ever had at a restaurant! Need less to say, I will not be going back...
