Tacos Chilango — Restaurant in Avondale

10/10 would recommend if you’re looking for some good tacos. I have been scouting for a place to satisfy my taco cravings and so glad to have found them! They are always so delicious! First time I tried them, I ordered a few tacos individually which were all really good. Highly recommend their birria (beef) tacos, so flavorful, juicy and tasty with all the fixings! Tonight I ordered the 1/2 pound tacos which came with (6) tortillas, cup of refried beans and rice! They also add lots of extra salsa on the side with lime, cilantro and onions to top it off! SO GOOD. Not usually a fan of refried beans either but love theirs! would definitely love if they added more tortillas bcs we had some meat leftover since the tortillas weren’t really that big in size but if you love filling up your tacos with a lot of meat then I guess 6 is enough to do the job. I would definitely pay for more tortillas on the side though if that was an option! I was also hesitant in trying their horchata, because I have bad experiences before but boy was I glad that I did because it definitely hit the spot. I enjoy the food here. I usually call in advance for pick up. Today I placed my order in the store and the young lady behind the counter wasn’t pleasant, absolutely no customer service skills. Not a big deal to me, whatever let’s move on. The problem is once the food was finished, she started packaging it and she dropped one of the pre-packaged salsas from the refrigerator down onto their floor in the kitchen and simply threw it in my bag as I was watching her. I proceeded to let her know that was not OK, cleanliness is the number one priority of a restaurant establishment, especially in a time where everyone is getting sick and it’s just disgusting. She did not apologize, she simply rolled her eyes and said thank you have a good day. There were also people eating inside of the restaurant, and their little baby, who was gorgeous by the way, was rubbing his hands all over the salsa containers that you use when you are eating inside of the restaurant. After witnessing how the young lady handled dropping a to go salsa on the ground and putting it in my bag for me to take home, I strongly doubt they clean those bottles. Just beware. Came to Tacos Chilango on 06/25/25 with my boyfriend after a long day at work, and we left seriously impressed. From the moment we walked in, the upbeat music and genuinely friendly staff set the tone for a great experience.

We ordered an asada burrito and the Torta Chilango. Our food was out in about eight minutes! super quick! My boyfriend raved about his burrito: the meat was perfectly seasoned, the portion was gigantic (he only managed half!), though he felt the rice could use a bit more flavor. My torta was equally massive and absolutely delicious! definitely worth every penny.

Here’s the part that really won us over: I didn’t notice the chef forgot the slice of American cheese on my torta until he personally sent out complimentary churros with an apology. He didn’t have to do that, but it spoke volumes about their commitment to customer service. Bonus: the churros were fantastic, clearly fried in fresh, clean oil.
