Marie Callender's — Restaurant in Azusa

They've really fixed this place up!

WHAT IT IS I've only been to this Marie Calendars, so I'm not sure what the standard layout of their restaurants are. This one has you enter into a large lobby where you'll see the to-go counter/pie area to your left. The bar is on the west side of the building and the dining room is on the east. I prefer this because it keeps the bar noise AWAY from the diners, making the dining room a much more tranquil place. This is also the first time I've seen a salad bar in years.

WHAT YOU SHOULD ORDER Pot pies and pie.

AMBIANCE 4 stars It's dated, but I rather like it. I've never been opposed to booths and partitions in the dining room--it keeps the noise level down! The carpets are really old and there are a few upgrades they could make to make this place look nicer, but I'd be heartbroken if they ripped down all the walls to follow the "open concept" fad. This is one of the only restaurants in the area where I can go with my husband during the dinner hour with a relative assurance that our dinner will be somewhat peaceful. I'll trade modernity for peace any day of the week.

FOOD AND DRINKS 5 Stars Their pies are fantastic, but that goes without saying. Actually, everything here has been pretty good. The service is fast, and their potpies are a perfect way to warm up your belly on a cold and drizzly afternoon. This isn't gourmet level or anything crazy or groundbreaking, but it isn't trying to be. It's just trying to give us good, rustic, comfort food, which I want sometimes. On that level, it succeeds with flying colors.

What horrible service here! I went to the restaurant Thursday July, 25th (mind you I have a disability) I bought a pie and then proceeded to wait for my ride and this older man (he has a limp) came from the back and asked if I was helped I told him yes and that I'm just waiting for my ride. He come up to me again after a few minutes to check on my ride status (like seriously what's it to you!) I am a paying customer, I don't have the right to sit in the seated area and wait for my ride??? Mind you the restaurant wasn't busy at 10am and I was no where near anyone else. The irony of it is I could have asked for a table and sat there and ate that whole pie if I wanted to. The last time he came up to me I said "would you rather I just wait outside" and he looked at me without even answering that question so I said to him "I am a paying customer" and he turned and walked off so I took that as a yes to go wait outside because that was very uncomfortable. Mind you I wasn't there for hours, not even 1hr. I bought the pie at 10 my ride came for me at 10:20. I was sitting there disrupting who? No one. I was literally just waiting on my ride and got indirectly put out after feeling uncomfortable. After all that got the pie to it's destination and it was burned! 😫 The picture isn't even showing just how burned. What a missed opportunity to be kind Marie Callender's what a sad...

Ordered online at 7:14 p.m., got there at 7:49 p.m. and they had not even pulled the order from online. They lied and said, "Oh yeah, it will be ready in a few minutes." Then they came out 10 minutes later saying oh we can't find the order what was on it?" Then, they proceeded to say it would be ANOTHER 20 minutes to make it. I got furious and demanded my money back. The Manager on duty argued with me, and I mean ARGUED with me, and I demanded cash since I paid online debit. The manager threw the money and walked away, she didn't even give me my change and demanded I got that. The kids, who were flirting with each other rather than working, said she gave me an extra dollar, but she did not and counted the money in front of him. I told her I would be calling the owner, and she shouted, "Go ahead." When I told her where is all my money, she said,"You have the receipt on your phone, look it up how much it was."
