Sonic Drive-In — Restaurant in Bakersfield

I typically really like going to Sonic. But I won't be going back to this one on Ming for a long time to come. We were kind of in a hurry because we have to pick up a child in the class. We ordered on the app ahead for two drinks and a milkshake. When we got there we logged in on the app. 8 minutes later our orders have not come out yet. My stepson went to the door and they said oh we didn't see that order we'll have it right out. we waited about another three or four minutes and finally had to leave even though the order was paid for. He went back to the door and she shoved a milkshake at him but they still haven't gotten to the soda or the slurpee ready so we drove off without getting them. We could not be late. They evidently were not watching their screen to have no idea we were there and they weren't even busy. there are no other cars in any of the stalls there was one car in the drive thru. If you've been to one Sonic, you've been to them all. It's basically the restaurant in the center of the parking lot, surrounded by parking spaces with a call box at each space where you order your food. This particular Sonic restaurant is not one of my favorites due to where the restaurant is located. It's between two buildings and on a very busy street, so getting in and out of the parking lot is hard, especially during rush hour traffic, and the buildings surrounding the parking lot makes you feel cramped in. However, the new electronic/digital menu screens are awesome and you can pay with a credit card right there on the screen, and the service here is super fast, the food is always good, the drinks are on point, and the staff is very friendly, professional, and quick. 4 stars because of the location but everything else is better...

I'm hoping that my experience is not representative of the entire place but i was definitely not impressed. We were doing a long drive from Yosemite back to Los Angeles and after 4.5 hours in the car were really looking forward to a break and a milkshake. We drove up and ordered and upon getting our shakes immediately got back on the road. We had just hit the highway when we tried them and all 3 tasted terrible. It was like those old school vacuums with the belt when it would start to burn out and have that really gross smell. It tasted exactly like that smell (if that makes sense) we were already on the road so didnt go back but 5 bucks for a fast food milkshake I kind of expect to be at least drinkable. Hopefully it was just a machine malfunction but I wont go back...
