We were in Bakersfield for our 3 day Christian Convention. My daughter and niece got baptized, so we had our celebration dinner here. We had a large group of 39. I spoke with the owner to make a reservation. (I can't remember her name, sorry!). She was so nice on the phone. I spoke to her a few more times to confirm our head count, and she was lovely to talk to every time.
The day of our reservation, I called again because we had some last-minute additions to our party putting us up to 43. She was so accommodating. We reserved their large room, and it was the perfect size. It was a little hot, but that couldn't be helped because it was Bakersfield in July, in a small banquet room with 43 people. We had the room reserved from 5:30-7:30, but our food took a long time to come out. I got my food at 7:15. They did not try to rush us out the door. I wasn't upset about the length of time getting our food because we were all chatting and had a few cocktails. It's a small restaurant and we were a large group. It's understandable. We enjoyed ourselves too much to really notice.
My food was excellent. I got the Chicken Picatta. The chicken was moist and flavorful. My mashed potatoes and vegetables were delicious too. For such a large group, no one had any complaints that their food was wrong or didn't taste good. I have never, at any other restaurant, with such a large group, have not one complaint about the food or service. We had 2 servers dedicated to our room. We never had to look for them for help. They were always attentive. Our water glasses were never empty, and we didn't have to wait long between cocktails.
We brought our girls two separate congratulatory cakes with their names on them. They put our cakes in the refrigerator and brought it out when we were ready. Our server brought me a knife, and he gave us dessert plates so I could cut and serve the cakes to our guests. We had lots of cake left over, so we gave the rest to the restaurant staff. They deserved it and were very grateful.
Overall, we had a wonderful time. They made our girls' special day even better. They deserve 5 stars. I will definitely go back again for dinner when we are at our...
Read moreThis has been the WORST shrimp & scampi my wife and I have ever had in our lives! We are on our way home to Sacramento and ordered food from here for take out to save us time. If only we wouldve tasted it before we left the town, we wouldve went back there to return it. We ordered from here because of all the positive reviews, but I guess we were just those "lucky" ones. Definitely ruined our mood, now we are driving to taco bell because we just could not eat it. I love shrimp, love all kinds of it. When I tasted the shrimp here, I could clearly taste the horrible tap water it was cooked in. You know how some tap water tastes ok, and some tap water tastes like old pipes? Thats exactly what this shrimp tasted like. I did not taste any seasoning, did not really taste the shrimp itself, but that horrible water it was cooked in. After one bite of the shrimp, I stopped eating and told my wife I won't eat it. She was surprised because she never saw me reject a dish. She is more tolerant than me, but once she had a bite, she couldnt eat it herself. The pasta was ok, the ceasar salad I got and the bread and butter were all good too. But the shrimp was the worst Ive ever had. Ive had my mom cook shrimp in plain water and then eat it with plain salt, and even that was much better then this. I never leave bad reviews but this was just horrible. Im not expecting any refund, and dont want to drive back there since we're over 20 miles away from the city now, but it was just horrible. I ordered on May 22, 2017, at 6:12pm. Paid 40$ and stayed hungry and pissed off that I...
Read moreI made a reservation for a table for two a week in advance for a Thursday night in May to celebrate our anniversary. Our reservation was for the first seating right after open at 5pm, so when we walked in we weren't surprised to see it mostly empty. We were seated quickly and immediately served up bread after asking for water and a bottle of wine. (Which came chilled in a nice ice bucket)
Our AMAZING server took such great care of us, going absolutely above and beyond once she found out we were celebrating our anniversary. She was attentive, refilled glasses quickly and brought over plenty of complimentary treats to make sure we were happy throughout the evening. We had the crab cakes appetizer which was phenomenal, the nantua sauce they served it with was so delicious and our server even brought us a new bread basket, knowing that we'd want to soak up that glorious sauce. They were running a few off-menu specials for dinner and dessert, I got the filet mignon special and my wife got the Dover sole. The filet was cooked to a perfect medium rare and served with a beautiful mushroom gravy sauce on the side. I had a bite of the sole as well, which was also equally as great, the sliced grapes offering a perfect burst of refreshing sweetness to complement the lemon butter sauce. Dessert was great as well, we shared spumoni ice cream and a slice of chocolate mousse cake and overall had a great meal and a great night!
We'll definitely be back soon for another guaranteed delicious meal and more...
