Andrea is a great server. She made sure everything I ordered made it to my table. The cooks are awesome... such flavor and presentation! I ordered the spinach and greens smoothie, which was awesome. It gave me energy to complete my busy day so I could fly home to Mexico.
This Denny's is not far from where I used to live. I used to come in late at night and eat. This is one of my favorite Denny's restaurants in the country.
I remember going into this particular Denny's one late night with a buddy of mine in 2019, who unfortunately succumbed to covid in 2021... After we ate, we went out in the parking lot with my binoculars to see the moons of Jupiter, as Jupiter was on its closest approach to earth in over 16,000 years.
A young family from Coahuila Mexico had just stopped to eat as they were traveling through, at about 1 o'clock in the morning, and asked what we were doing.
When we told them, their two girls, ages 10 and 7, asked if they could look. I handed over my binoculars to them, and they excitedly jumped up and down, shouting, "We saw the moons! We saw the moons!"
My friend got tears in his eyes as he looked again and said quietly, "I can't believe this. I'm seeing the moons of Jupiter. With binoculars. In the Denny's parking lot."
On another night, probably back in 2018, I also paid for a bunch of San Antonio cops to eat breakfast one morning at about 2 AM They all thanked me as they left, all but one, a 60-ish heavy set cop with orange-ish blonde hair, who stayed behind so he could insult me after I paid for his meal...
But God will bless the others who truly appreciated my gesture, which came from my heart, being a retired cop myself.
I've got lots of memories of this place, almost all of them good. The food has never failed to satisfy, and the staff, which changes every now and then, keeps the experience top notch.
Well...
Read moreVery unprofessional cooks!!! Well to start off I ordered a waffle with strawberries bananas and side of chicken strips the waitress forgot my strips and instead she brought me bacon, which was not a big deal. I ate the bacon and told her don’t worry about the chicken strips. As I am eating my waffle that looked great yet didn’t taste as good as it looked, I could smell and taste onion so I removed all my strawberries and bananas to find a red onion on my waffle. The onion made the whole waffle taste awful!!! As I am a cook by profession I was disgusted with not only having a onion on my waffle but more so how the cook responded. Our waitress brought it to the gentlemen's attention his response was (OH COME ON TELL HER TO JUST EAT IT ONIONS ARE GOOD FOR HER EYES)!!!! Very wrong response for several reason the first being it was a waffle so a onion should of never touched my plate , second I could of had food allergens, Not to mention facts of cross contamination. His disregard of all of these food safety importance and careless ness of the quality taste was shown by his response which is very alarming ,unsettling ,unprofessional & could even possibly be deadly if he & other cooks are not properly trained in these matters. The waitress began to apologize by saying that sometimes they get busy and are rushing . Yet another wrong answer and a poor excuse for the fact my husband & I were the only two people in there. Never did we indicate that we were in a rush or needed our food in a rush!!! When it comes to food safe and properly handling food being in a rush is not an acceptable in disregarding food safety !! This is not my first bad experience with this particular DENNYS LOCATION. I don't think we will be going back...
Read moreI took my mom and family for dinner. We stood there for a good 15 min. Manager glanced at us a few times but said nothing, not even a greeting. I approached the counter to ask if we could be seated. With no response he turned and walked away. He came to the register once more to Cash out a customer. As I approached him again, he quickly turned away as I asked, "Are you not seating customers?" He then turned and said I have to clean tables. Another 15 minutes passed. All the Manager kept doing was walking back and forth looking at us. After more than half an hour we decided to just leave. As we walker towards the door the manager mumbled, good they're leaving. A waitress literally ran out the door apologizing. She asked what she could do to get us to stay. I explained, I understand when a place is short handed and busy, but when a Manager ignores customers intentionally and then is happy that we turned to leave, I think Denny's is in need of a new Manager. She asked us to please let her wait on us as they lost soo many customers that day. We went inside and let me tell you. This lady had a torn ligament on her left leg and even like that she busted her butt taking our order, bringing us our food and refills. She was very great fun for the tip we each gave her. People like her are the ones that need to be in Management and her Manager needs to take Customer...
