Full honest review of my experience:
I called and asked for the specials and went for the medium 1 topping for $7.99. I was told at 1230p on. Sunday it would be about 20 minutes. Rolled in at 1245p and the pizza was dead on 20 minutes. Two guys working pretty hard to keep up with orders and in my 5 minute wait they slammed out four other pizzas that were before me. A+ for punctuality.
Got my pizza and it seemed a bit smaller than some competitors with their medium but it is literally the standard 12in. Also to point out, for the price there are places selling smaller 10in mediums for $4 more right up the road. I mean, the burger joint a block away is selling $12 cheeseburgers, so I am just chalking it up as the pricing of today.
The pizza itself was pretty good. The crust reminded me of PizzaHut crust minus all the grease and oil. The sauce reminded me of Papa John’s as it seems to be a sweeter, tangier tomato sauce. The cheese blend was interesting as it wasn’t stringy or thick, and also not rubbery. It worked well with the toppings. I generally do a half beef and half bacon and there was plenty of both on each side. I did NOT order any dipping sauces, but I realized that the bread crust heel would be complemented really well if I had.
As true pizza fans know, you gotta try it hot as well as the day after once it has sat in the fridge. Haven’t made it that far, so I will update later.
Is it my favorite pizza in St Louis? Not yet. Gotta give it a couple more tries. Is it good pizza? I give it a solid YES!
Anyone that says it tastes like cardboard…haven’t actually had real bad cardboard pizza. As someone that has hits more than 60 different pizza joints in and out of St Louis, Marcos is...
Read moreUPDATE AGAIN I called and spoke to the store about the error. They advised they were going to remake the pizza correctly and send it out. I waited another hour and nothing came. I called back and nothing was prepared or sent. I spoke to a manager who supposedly cancelled the order which would effectively "refund" the order. I will keep an eye out to make sure I was not charged, or if I was - the order amount was refunded. Otherwise, I'll be disputing the charge with my bank.
We will never order from this location or actually any Marco's ever again.
UPDATE I've reduced the review to 2 stars. In total, we've ordered from this location 3 times. Every. Single. Order. Incorrect. Every single time something significant is incorrect. It's forgotten items, toppings, or in this case - not leaving off of a topping. We like Marco's Pizza. That's why we keep giving it a chance. But, this location is wild. It's wrong every single time. This may be the last chance we give it.
It pains me to leave a 3 star review. However, I feel it's currently deserved.
My wife and I have ordered delivery twice within the past month. The food for both orders was delicious, but both times we received no sauces with our order. It may seem trivial, but $0.89 each time for a product you're not getting adds up. Also, we were supposed to get a side of pizza sauce with the bread stick order both times and didn't receive that either.
We do enjoy our meal, but won't be ordering any extras going forward as we aren't getting...
Read moreI had just had knee surgery, so I got the night off from cooking and decided to order from Marco's. I guess it had been a while since our last order, because they mailed us a coupon for a free large, two-topping pizza to win our business back. After applying the coupon, my order was too cheap to qualify for delivery, so I had to order additional food.
I placed the order online, and noticed a disclaimer that some orders are outsourced to Door Dash for delivery. About 20 minutes after ordering, I checked the tracker, and saw that the pizza was out of the oven and awaiting pickup. 45 minutes after that, I got a notification from Door Dash that they had picked up my order. It took the Door Dash driver a full hour to get to our house, even though we only live about 10 minutes away from the store.
The driver explained that she had 2 deliveries to make -- ours, and one in O'Fallon! Needless to say, our order was stone cold (I had already preheated the oven so I could warm it up.) At first, the manager I spoke to at Marco's told me to take my complaint up with Door Dash, but after some persuasion, he agreed to refund the order. On her way out of my driveway, the Door Dash driver back into my neighbor's car.
To top it all off, the food wasn't great, and the salad (that I had to add to make my order delivery-eligible) was awful - the salami looked like someone had taken a bite out of it.
Sorry, Marco's, but if this is how you win business back, you won't be around...
