My recent visit to Alexander's Tavern was a truly satisfying experience, proving it to be a fantastic spot for delicious comfort food in a relaxed setting. The atmosphere was exactly what you'd hope for in a neighborhood tavern—welcoming, lively, and unpretentious, making it easy to settle in and enjoy the meal. What truly stood out during my visit were the BBQ pulled pork tater tots. As the photos clearly show, these were an absolute masterpiece of pub grub. The first image displays a generous mound of perfectly golden, crispy tater tots, smothered in a gooey, rich layer of melted cheese and crispy bacon bits. This alone looked incredibly appealing. However, the second image truly captures the star of the show: the BBQ pulled pork added on top. The succulent, tender pulled pork was piled high, generously sauced with what appeared to be a rich, tangy BBQ sauce, and then topped with a refreshing dollop of coleslaw. The combination of textures and flavors was phenomenal. The crunch of the tots, the creamy melted cheese, the savory and slightly sweet pulled pork, and the cool, crisp coleslaw created a symphony in every bite. It was evident that the pork was slow-cooked to perfection, falling apart effortlessly, and the BBQ sauce was flavorful without being overpowering. This dish is a definite must-try and a testament to Alexander's Tavern's ability to elevate classic comfort food. Beyond this standout dish, the overall experience was excellent. The service was attentive and friendly, ensuring that our drinks were refilled and our needs met without feeling rushed. The casual and inviting ambiance made it a great place to unwind and enjoy good company. In conclusion, Alexander's Tavern is a gem. If you're looking for incredibly satisfying and expertly prepared comfort food, particularly their phenomenal BBQ pulled pork tater tots, this is the place to go. It’s a spot I’ll eagerly recommend and definitely...
Read moreI'm very disappointed by Alexander's last night. We were looking forward to going as one of my friends has celiac disease and Alexander's has an entire menu to accommodate.
6 of us come in around 7, well before the place got busy. We order drinks and appetizers. The drinks come out oddly, the ladies first, then 15 minutes later, the rest of the drinks. We are sitting there for 45 minutes before the waitress (Faith) comes out and remembers that we haven't had our appetizers yet. She blames the kitchen for not delivering. The appetizers were fries and chicken tenders ... something even with a busy kitchen could of taken no longer then 5 minutes. The thing was, the restaurant wasn't full and all 6 of us got our mains prior to the fried appetizers coming out.
Our food comes out prior to the appetizers. Faith offers the apps at 1/2 price for taking so long (which at this point, we don't even eat). Dinner was ok. No one was particularly impressed but no one was disappointed. I also had a desert, as I ordered from the Restaurant week menu. The desert was the driest desert I've even had. After 2 bites, I ask the waitress to try it and send it back.
I've probably returned food to the kitchen less then 5 times in my life and complained to a restaurant manager about the same. The desert, on top of everything else was just too much. When the manager came over and I polity explained what happened over the course of the dinner, he gave a very weak apology and took the apps off the bill.
Again, we were very excited about Alexander's and completely get things go wrong in a kitchen. Everyone at the table has worked at a restaurant before, we get it. But don't lie about it (Waitress) and do what you can to...
Read moreCustomer Beware! I rarely write bad reviews but the public needs to be made aware so they are not taken advantage of. If this establishment makes an error they will make you pay for it!! We had brunch here and our server made an error and charged my mom for a side crab cake appetizer and also a crab cake entree. She couldn’t have even ordered the side crab cake as an appetizer because we didn’t have lunch menus and had to ask our server if we could order crab cakes during brunch when we were placing our full order. When we pointed out her error the manager, Michael, came over and we were treated the rudest I have ever been treated in any establishment. He acted like we were trying to steal a crab cake and had a horrible attitude. We tried to explain that we had no idea what the crab entree had because we had no lunch menu so we didn’t know we got a side also. He didn’t want to listen, was condescending, and said he “couldn’t just give away free food” and then proceeded to take the leftovers we had in a box from us. I hope he did not intend to feed those to another customer but given his attitude I wouldn’t be surprised! The crab cakes are usually dry and not even worth what you pay anyway. Not to mention we only saw our server three times during our whole meal and a 20% gratuity was automatically added. Never returning again so I can avoid being charged for things I didn’t order for their mistakes and treated like a criminal! You are spending your hard earned money to have a nice brunch so please go somewhere else to be treated with respect...
