If you are planning a stay in the Bar Harbor/Acadia area - book a stay at the SaltAir. When you book any hotel or B&B, you expect a clean, comfortable, safe place to reside in during your stay..with a hot shower and nice towels . :) SaltAir elevates what your expect . As they state on their website - they welcome you into their home and it becomes your home away from home. ||Matt and Kristi think of everything to make sure your guest experience is what it should be. The personal touch makes the difference. Breakfast is unbelievable. Plan your day to make sure you have breakfast at the Inn!!!! We even went up to Cadillac Mountain at 5:30 AM for sunrise..went back for the breakfast and then returned to Acadia. ||The Inn is stunning and the best location. And easy parking right on property. Trust me parking is at a premium in Bar Harbor. Easy access to Acadia - one turn out of the driveway ..stay on that street ..takes you right to the park entrance . Acadia is minutes away. The property that the Inn sits on is beautiful . One night we got sandwiches in town for dinner and sat on the lawn in the Adirondack chairs and enjoyed the sunset. We walked everywhere in Bar Harbor..just got in the car to go to Acadia if we didn’t want to take the Island Explorer . (Free shuttle ) ||Matt and Kristi (the owners) live on property, raised their family here, and our part of the community. They know the area and will assist you on whatever adventure you want for the day. Your day starts at breakfast sharing what you might be doing that day and Matt /Kristi will share how to get there, what not to miss, and different places to go. A wealth of knowledge right there at the table. ||If I could give it a higher rating than a five - I would. Hopefully I will be able to make a return trip in the future but until then…I will share with my friends and family my wonderful trip and share the tip..you need to stay at the SaltAir Inn. It is that...

Never been to Maine, much less Acadia. So this was a first all the way around. As far as the Saltair Inn:
breakfast was fantastically unique! We had fresh banana bread French toast. So good! Back to my original comment, first time for that!
accommodations were the perfect location. Apparently for all us noobs, there is an island in the background of my picture that is accessible during low time. That’s right: the water drops 13 feet and you can walk across on dry ground. First time to ever even hear of something like that! And we discovered it because we stayed at this place! Likely wouldn’t have found it otherwise.
communication was excellent! First, I had booked through Blueboard Award travel, which went totally out of business between the time we coordinated with them and the time my trip was scheduled to go. So my wife and I thought the trip was just gone. The Inn sent me a reminder text. And that’s how come we ended up going on this trip! We didn’t even realize the trip was actually on until we got this text. Not only was our Inn booked/paid but so were our flights.
friendliness of the staff was top notch. We’ve stayed at the Broadmoor several times (5 star resort) and this place operates at the same level.
Last comment, everyone is entitled to their own opinions so I’m cool with that. But for the one yahoo that left a bad review one week ago for this sweet owner run place, I humbly disagree. This place was an absolute home run and I wanted to make sure the owner was rightfully encouraged and wanted others to know it’s worthy. Please consider staying here. You won’t be...
Read moreThis was, hands-down, our favorite place we stayed during our coastal Maine trip! And it was the most reasonably priced for everything Matt and Kristi offer. We stayed on the 3rd floor in the Beehive Suite. It was a bit of a trek going up and down as many times as we did, especially with heavy luggage, but we loved the room and the view!!!! And we never heard a single other guest during our stay. They have a great HVAC system that keeps the third floor very cool. And the bed and pillows were very comfortable. There is a parking space for a car for every room.
When we arrived, we got a thorough welcoming from Matt. He showed us on a map some suggestions of where to eat. The inn is an easy walk from the town and about a five minute drive from the entrance to Acadia National Park. We didn't partake in breakfast, but saw many others enjoying it. They have a beautiful deck with plenty of seating, and Adirondack chairs in the yard to enjoy the stars. They keep the lights and music on all night, so no matter when you arrive home, you feel comfortable and safe.
The only thing that we missed was access to ice. There is a tiny machine in the breakfast room, but that only makes enough ice for about 3 drinks for the whole place. We had to buy ice at the Circle K every day and keep it in our cooler in the room for our water bottles and cocktails.
If you ever travel to Bar Harbor, this is the place to stay!!! Best...
