We recently had a family visit in Bar Harbor and had high hopes for this cozy new Hotel and our 5 night stay in mid-March. I agree with most of the points made by other reviewers: the rooms were beautiful and everything new and soundproof - The staff was exceptionally friendly and the daily breakfasts would put a smile on any gourmet. Sadly, several operational issues made this less than a perfect stay.
*No USB connections in the room. Apparently a big oversite - the hotel had a prototype lamp that they gave us to use but seriously?
*The next day we returned to the room mid morning & suddenly the floor started to vibrate, (think those retro magic finger beds). I thought it was an earthquake. But no…it was just from room 313 - they turned it into the Housekeeping laundry room. The spin cycle of the commercial washing machines shook our entire room. Perfect….
*Next, we wanted a room that had black-out shades and were given a King Suite suite (314) at same price as a double. (The other rooms did not have black-out shades). Well, the door wasn’t hung properly in the frame as to block out the bright hall way light. We had to use tape to cover the large side gaps and bottom. And the green light from the wall mounted AC unit was so bright we had to cover that too.
*On Saturday night, we came back to our room at 8:30 pm and discovered that the water in the shower was barely Luke warm and the water pressure was anemic. Next day I complained & was told later a plumber was working on it!?! I mentioned at this point that maybe they should give us some sort of comp. Next night the water was marginally better and still anemic pressure.
We really wanted to give them 5 stars but management needs to get it together before the summer season begins. Lastly, when a hotel is trying to build guest loyalty, mange major issues with your stay, , you need to immediately show your highest level of customer service- offering a bottle of wine, a room discount, a voucher at a local...

The Pathmaker Hotel in Bar Harbor has a fantastic location—central, convenient, and close to the waterfront. Our room was clean and nicely appointed upon arrival, and we appreciated the covered parking on the first floor.
Unfortunately, our experience was marred by several service issues that left us questioning the hotel’s claim to be a full-service luxury property. Despite placing a sign on our door requesting housekeeping, we returned from a long boat tour to find our room untouched. When we called the front desk, the woman who answered—who also told us she was the manager—responded that housekeeping had already left for the day. She somewhat cheekily added that she could clean it herself "if we wished," which came off as more sarcastic than accommodating.
The bathroom vent was also nonfunctional, and condensation from it began dripping onto me after my shower—not something you expect at this price point.
The atmosphere at the front desk was inconsistent. While other staff members were warm and helpful, the manager gave off a cold, disinterested vibe. When we asked for restaurant recommendations, she didn't even mention The Oven, which is owned by the hotel—a strange omission that felt like a missed opportunity.
Overall, while the hotel was generally clean and had some nice touches, the lack of attentive service and odd management attitude made it feel more like an Airbnb than a true hotel. I also should mention that a very loud vehicle came by the hotel every morning at 4 a.m. The first morning, I thought it was an airplane flying really low, but I realized it must be a street cleaner the next two mornings. If we return to Bar Harbor, we’d be hesitant to...
Read moreRecently stayed 2 nights in this beautiful hotel on in Bar Harbor- we did not commit to the stay until we road into the town - by the looks from the street we committed- The staff was easy to work with for booking, pleasant, answered all our questions and even had hot coffee, fresh cookies ,candies , and fruit upon arrival for their guests. We booked for 2 nights. The room was very clean, well maintained and updated. They showed us the room before we booked to ensure we would be happy with our room choice. It was perfectly located in Bar Harbor to walk to all stores/shops The breakfast included in stay were delicious, cooked to order from the kitchen, not your typical free hotel breakfast. The service was excellent while we were there but the best part was that their service extended beyond our stay. I left a pillow and when I got home in Jersey I called to see if the house staff maybe found it. They assured me they would look but was not found. After several days and couple calls to check in ... nothing . Then I get a call and they found it and they would return it ! They cared enough to continue looking for my pillow ! Shout out to their hotel manager Mackenzie for dedicated service even after you leave their premise. You guys went ABOVE and BEYOND I would go back to this hotel in a heartbeat. Thank...
