My wife and I went to Alberto’s Ristorante for dinner, and we were in love. The atmosphere was incredible. It was well decorated, clean, and inviting. There also was outdoor seating right on Main St which was filled with people, adding value to the atmosphere. It was a beautiful night which helped compliment the overall ambiance. The service we had received from our waiter was complimentary. For such an incredible restaurant, I expected more. He seemed rather mundane and monotone, almost as if we were bothering him to serve us. I remember I was trying to choose ordering between the Veal Saltimbocca and the Sinatra pasta. I asked him which one he recommends. He said, “well the Sinatra is just pasta, the veal is much better”. He almost said it in a tone where he was insulting the comparison between the two, almost like “why even compare the two?”. Wasn’t a very professional way to offer a suggestion. Plus, as a waiter, especially at a restaurant like that, you should never insult a menu option so harshly. You never know a customers preferences. The bread also took forever to come out, but when it did, it was excellent. For food, I ordered the veal saltimbocca and my wife ordered the shrimp and scallops florentine. We both loved our food. The veal saltimbocca was cooked so well, and the flavor balance was impeccable. I specifically remember how well the mushrooms on top were cooked, they were so juicy and just the right amount of softness. My wife had a lot of great things to say about what she got as well. The presentation of my dish was not that creative, however. It looked more like something I got off a school lunch line. It had the veal, pasta with no sauce or any topping on it, and broccoli all evenly divided into three partitions on the plate. Regardless, taste was incredible, just a small thing I noticed. Our waiter came to check on us but again with a tone where he seemed like he didn’t really want to. When we checked out, he said “thank you”, and dropped of the check. Again, very strange and not what I have expected. I would definitely recommend Alberto’s to anyone who is visiting the cape and is a fan of fine...
Read moreMy wife and I were on the Cape for a week in late June 2021. We went to Alberto's on our first night out. It was disappointing for a number of reasons. Our waiter appeared to be too distracted to take any time with us. When we ordered we were told there were no substitutions for the sides. I ordered soup and we both ordered salads. They were brought out sequentially, which may be international, but we were not asked if we wanted our salads with the meal; our preference, and we have regularly been asked this in other establishments. The soup was thin and I had to ask for the bruschetta toast which didn't come with the soup as stated. This took a while and my soup was cold till it arrived. The salads were uneventful. The berry balsamic dressing was too sweet. After the salads it took forever for the entrees to come out; two different eggplant dishes in which the eggplant could hardly be found because it had turned to mush. Also, way too much cheese, which I've found to be a disguise for core deficiencies in Italian dishes. The tomato sauce had no distinct personality. Meanwhile, at the table next to us, their waiter asked each person how they wanted their dish prepared. Oh, yes, of course you can make substitutions. He offered them several vegetables that we were not. We got the broccoli that was raw. All this lowered our waiter's tip to 10%, which was kind. Our conclusion is that we got the bad waiter for starts, and that we were being pushed through in order to free the table. Also, I think that in a shore town with a lot of non-return clientele it is not considered as important to present their best to everyone that comes in. But, the food was mediocre regardless. So if you're looking for a good Italian meal, skip Alberto's. Addendum: In a follow-up, Felis, the owner of Alberto's, offered to buy us dinner next time we're in. Thank you, Felis, but this jesture is a bit hollow. As I mentioned we were on vacation and statistically you likely count on us not being back. So really, the best way to avoid reviews like mine would be to get it right...
Read moreI had a distressing experience at Alberto's Ristorante that left us deeply frustrated and upset. We made a reservation for 7:30 PM and were advised to wait forty minutes before returning. Upon our return, we found that we still had to wait, which was inconvenient but not the main issue.
The real problem began when I noticed the manager looking around with three menus and was concerned we might miss our call. I approached the manager, but instead of addressing me in a way I could understand, she began yelling at me. As a Deaf individual who uses American Sign Language, I was unable to understand her and requested that she write down her instructions. Despite my clear request, she continued to speak over me and refused to provide written communication. Her attitude was dismissive and rude.
When I asked for the manager’s or owner's name to file a complaint, I was refused and threatened with police involvement. The manager pretended to call the police as a scare tactic, which was not only unprofessional but also unsettling. This display of poor management and lack of empathy for individuals with disabilities was appalling.
The staff's inability to adapt to different communication needs and their hostile attitude made the experience extremely unpleasant. Their impatience and negative energy ruined our evening, forcing us to seek another restaurant after waiting for over an hour and a half.
This level of service is unacceptable, especially for a restaurant that should accommodate all guests. The management’s behavior was unprofessional and showed a clear lack of understanding and respect for people with disabilities. I strongly advise against dining at Alberto’s Ristorante, particularly if you require any special accommodations.
Since this manager refused to give me the name, so here is the picture of...
