La Bella Cuenca — Restaurant in Barnstable

DO NOT EAT HERE!!! FOOD SUCKS!! My friend and I are staying in Cape Cod and we were searching for an Italian place to eat. First off, we had to wait a long time to even get seated even though the restaurant only had four tables being served. Then when we sat it took another ten minutes just to get our drink order. We ordered two apps and then each got an entree. I would like to note that I am not a picky eater in any way shape or form, but this food was terrible. Everything was unseasoned and just tasted like cardboard. The bruschetta was served WARM, in what world is bruschetta served warm?? My friend ordered a Margherita pizza that looked like someone bought frozen dough from the grocery store and just slabbed cheese on it. It tasted so bad. Visited on a Tuesday night in the summer and it was pretty empty. Unfortunate to see for a new restaurant. It's right next to Alberto's so hard not to compare. A little less expensive but food was just okay. Vibe was a odd; certainly not traditional Italian. Music playing was some dance/techno covers, maybe digitally generated. Modern aesthetic inside with fancy lights flashing behind bar. Had chicken Marsala and Marsala flavor was okay. They were generous with rolls which tasted good. Others in party had shrimp scampi and piccata which people thought were okay. Nothing was bad but nothing stood out. Also weird that for a party of 6 they automatically added 20% tip. Have seen that with large parties before but not 6 people. Fortunately they told us in advance so we just had to remember not to double tip...

We went there on vacation on the Cape and it turns out they had only been open a week. Overall a great place, and once they work out the new restaurant kinks, it will be amazing. The food was amazing and our waiter was extremely nice and was trying very hard. He was from central Europe and it was his second day ever waiting tables. He did get everything right and was extremely attentive. I had the linguine with clam sauce, and another in our party had the filet mignon. Both were fantastic!

They clearly know what they are doing in the kitchen and once they get the wrinkles ironed out in the front of the house, I expect that this will be an extremely popular, go-to place. I would absolutely go back and would...
