Sonny's BBQ — Restaurant in Bartow

Lots of food for the cost. It’s pretty good. Lots of butter and definitely not low calorie.

My girls got the kids macaroni and cheese with a sweet potato for one and green beans for the other. It comes with a giant piece of bread and a drink. They didn’t get their juice that was supposed to come with their meal (they wanted milk but I guess they ran out because the server said they didn’t have milk) but I didn’t complain since I don’t let them have much juice anyway.

I got a grilled cheese and my husband got the ‘Big Deal’ which is a sandwich with some fries. He always gets garlic bread with his sandwich and loves it. They have 4 kinds of barbecue sauce on the table - smoking, sweet, spicy and original. My husband uses sweet and spicy together.

We also tried some fried okra (we had a big party of 13 of us) that someone else had ordered.

The food took a while but there were a bunch of people who came in before us while we were waiting for the rest of our party to get there. (They don’t sit your big party till almost everyone is there.)

I am not a big fan of barbecue myself but my husband loves this place and my kids liked the macaroni and cheese (they didn’t like the green beans at all so they didn’t get eaten and we didn’t...

We are big fans of Sonnys, always have a good dining experience. This Friday that all changed at their Bartow location. It would appear that every Sonnys is getting a Facelift. Yeah it looks good on the outside, but the inside was a total disaster. It was so noisy due to the lack of sound absorbing material, every conversation was echoing throughout the restaurant, we could not even have a normal conversation. On top of that the air conditioning was so cold it actually blew the napkins off the table. Meanwhile we just got up and changed tables much to the disapproval of the hostess At this point we didn’t really care about her attitude. After a15 min wait we finally placed our order. No problem with the food, everything was almost perfect. Looking around after our meal, no wetnaps. Even the server said, haven’t got any… that was totally ridiculous. Bottom line this location was not ready to reopen. The acoustics in the restaurant were terrible and the staff was inexperienced. Until these issues are remedied we will not return even though we have been coming here...

We go to Bartow Sonny’s and have for years. But they are getting really bad about serving food that’s not right! The pulled pork was dry and hard pieces, garlic bread is usually burnt and try to hide it, waitress is very uncaring when we explained food wasn’t hot and fresh and not enough Queso on the appetizers! She told the manager and she came back and said she watched them fix them and it was fresh and the right amount of Queso so we couldn’t get them fresh!!! she was very unprofessional! They never have chocolate milk or white milk! I had to ask for everything needed to take food home so I could heat it up. She only brought 2 boxes and she could clearly see there was a lot to box up🤷‍♀️There customer service is really lacking when it comes to customer satisfaction with fresh food and not dry and burnt! Waitress that’s been there a while has no personality or concern for customer satisfaction 🤔 I see your reviews for this location has several of the same complaints and hope you can get issues resolved!🤷‍♀️🤔😳
