Today my aunt, and I had a terrible experience at this location that we used to enjoy eating at, mainly due to the general manager, Emily.
Our visit started off with poor service and long wait times. My aunt ordered poached eggs, toast, and hot cocoa. The hot chocolate took over 15 minutes to arrive because our waiter, Henry, said he "didn't have time to make it." since they were busy. Why are waiters making hot cocoa instead of the kitchen staff? Water or sodas I understand. When it finally arrived, it was watery, microwaved, and clearly with way too much water, with no milk, definitely not worth the $5.
I ordered an omelet that was suppose to include a biscuit and a fruit cup. I specifically asked Henry if the fruit was included, and he confirmed it was. However, when the bill came, I noticed I was charged extra for the fruit. Henry admitted his mistake and said he would remove the charge, along with the hot chocolate and he apologized for the cold toast, since we were unsatisfied.
Then things took a turn for the worse when the general manager, Emily approached our table. Instead of apologizing for the issues, she was rude, dismissive, and condescending. My aunt's toast was very cold and didn't even come with butter, so we had to ask for some. When we brought this up, Emily went on a bizarre rant, aggressively arguing that "toast comes out cold all the time" and acting like we've never been to a breakfast spot that serves warm toast. I don't know where she eats breakfast, but any decent restaurant serves warm toast when its brought to the table, even Waffle House. Very disappointing coming from somewhere that is suppose to be considered a higher end brunch spot in town.
Additionally, the fruit cup had fruits that were very unsweet. I brought this to Emily's attention and she condescendingly asked me "well when you go to a store and buy unsweet fruits do you complain?" I was just looking for an apology and either to take that item off the bill. Instead, she was very defensive and mocking me for complaining.
Just to be clear, I buy fruits at Whole Foods and Trader Joes where the fruits are always guaranteed to be sweet.
To make matters worse, when I went to pay, Emily overcharged me by $20, bringing by bill to $48 instead of $28. When I pointed this out, she denied it at first, only later to realize the mistake she made. Even after supposedly fixing, I noticed the refund was processed to the wrong card, which seemed either careless or intentional.
The entire interaction escalated as she became argumentative and unprofessional. At one point, she even told my aunt to "shut up" in front of other customers and employees. One of the assistant employees was defending her as well, black heavier set women that had an apron on.
If this is how the general manager treats customers, I can only imagine the culture she fosters for her staff. Henry, our waiter, was at least polite and understanding, but Emily should not be managing a restaurant.
I do not recommend eating here with the current management. There are plenty of other great brunch spots in Baton Rouge that actually care about customer service. Hopefully the owner makes some...
Read moreToday, I placed an order through Waiter for fried green tomatoes and crab cakes, plus a gluten-free pancake with chicken tenders. It's almost the exact same thing I ordered two days ago, except two days ago, I added an additional pancake. I received everything on my order except for my orange juice. When I realized I called and the bartender told me I could come back and get it. However, I had an appointment, and the restaurant closed at 2 p.m, so I wasn't able to go back. Today, I didn't receive my gluten-free pancake. I called, and the bartender told me they were going to call me to tell me I didn't get the pancake because I didn't pay for it. This is the same bartender who i just received my order from and the same bartender who just read my order back to me. I explained to her that there is NO additional cost for the gluten-free pancake on the Waiter app, so I shouldn't be penalized for an error on the part of Waiter and the restaurant. Because I am sure I am not the first person who has brought this to their attention. She wanted to transfer me to someone else, I told her not to bother, but I'll call Waiter. The manager who was on duty told the waiter representative the same thing even though the rep was looking at my receipt and understood it as a part of the order. I work in customer service, and sometimes you're right, and sometimes you're wrong, and in this case, Another Broken Egg was definitely wrong. Too bad the manager on 2.6.2019 decided to use poor judgment on this simple customer service issue, for what would equate to be a $2 pancake. This is the worst service I have ever received from a restaurant. I will never recommend or step foot in this restaurant ever again. Lucky for you, I was headed out of town and didn't realize the mistake soon because I would have most certainly brought back the entire order and requested a full refund. It's not about the money. It's...
Read moreWe were seated right away, got water and coffee when we placed our order, thought we were going to experience a nice relaxed and yummy breakfast. Boy was I wrong. Specifically told waiter to make sure my eggs were cooked to MEDIUM. He came back to the table a while after taking our order, asked what kind of potatoes I wanted with the Lemon-Blueberry pancakes. I asked if he was sure I was supposed to get potatoes, as I was expected a choice of meat as stated on the menu. He assured me I was. Checked the menu later, that entree is served with eggs and meat. NO POTATOES!! When the order arrived, the whites of the eggs were runny. Not even cooked to over-easy. The waiter (Gabriel) never once came back to the table after he took our order to check on anything, to offer more coffee or to make sure all was OK. If I had pushed my cup any closer to the edge of the table it would have fallen on the floor. He could see us very well, and several other employees also looked our way many times. The only time he showed up was after we were both done eating and then he asked if we needed more coffee or if we just wanted the check. Service was beyond bad and food wasn't nearly good enough to ever consider going back to this place again. When we got our bill and it was taken care of I then had to ask a gentleman in a wheelchair to move, because they had put him right at the end of our booth to wait on a place to be seated. Terrible...
