I am writing today to let you all know that the person responsible for our experience did reach out to me today and apologized for how he handled the situation. The gentlemen was very sincere and I appreciated the effort he took getting my contact information and giving me a call. I stand by my review, it is unfortunate. But I also stand by my statement that this is the best dining experience in Baton Rouge and that is because of the efforts of the whole staff. The host asked if we would return, he even offered a table for tonight and I explained that we would return, and that we never had any intention not to return, but I did have to regretfully decline is offer tonight. Thank you Ruth’s Chris for the phone call today.
Let me begin by saying that the following review is based on an unfortunate experience that Ruth’s Chris was not at fault. Ruth’s Chris is a fantastic place with tremendous service, but tonight was not a pleasant one. For my birthday, my wife made reservations for Ruth’s Chris for 6:30. We arrive a little early and she gives the host our names which his response was that he did not see the name. My wife then suggested it may be under my name and he responded that he was not seeing the last name. Confused, my wife then stated that she has the confirmation on her phone. When she checked her email she then realized her mistake, she had made reservations for Sullivan’s and not Ruth’s Chris. You may imagine her embarrassment but the host actually had a smirk smile on his face like “I told you so”, look, nonverbally suggesting he was right. He was right, we had not made the reservation for the correct place. My wife then proceeded to ask if there was any way he had something available….Now here is the upsetting part…Of course he knew what she was going to ask and he began shaking his head from the moment she began to ask the question, and still wearing a little smirk. We apologized for the inconvenience and left. My wife at this time has free flowing tears because she messed up, and because this host’s lack of empathy made her feel even more terrible. Mistakes happen and we understand how Ruth’s Chris operates. There was no way we were getting a table at that time, and we knew that but she believes it never hurts to ask, until it does. Anyone reading this review please understand that Ruth’s Chris is the best restaurant in Baton Rouge. The ownership is awesome and the staff are incredible. If you are dining at this restaurant and are not sure who owns it, just look around for one man that is contantly moving, working harder than anyone should and when you identify that person then you’ve found your owner. The staff feeds off of his energy and attention to detail. It really is incredible. We are bi-annual customers and we will continue to do so. But for the host, even though you know you are right, please understand the mistake made and show a little empathy. I understand it is not your fault but you obviously saw how upset my wife was and it seemed like it was just another day for you. Maybe next time, if something like this happens, let the patron ask the question before insulting them by shaking your head before they can even finish asking. The last thing I’d like to suggest is please don’t appear to take enjoyment in someone...
Read moreRuth's Chris Steak House in Baton Rouge, LA, offers a dining experience that effortlessly elevates the mundane to the extraordinary. From the moment you step inside, the contrast between the establishment's unpretentious exterior and its lavish interior sets the stage for an evening of indulgence. The ambiance, with its candlelit tables dressed in pristine white linen and the soft glow of dimly lit lights, creates an intimate setting ideal for a romantic dinner or a special celebration.
The service at Ruth's Chris is as impeccable as the setting. Our server, Lauren, was the epitome of attentiveness and professionalism. She not only greeted us promptly but also went above and beyond by offering us a special dinner option not listed on the menu. Throughout our meal, she remained vigilant, ensuring that all our needs were met without being intrusive.
The culinary offerings are where Ruth's Chris truly shines. The steaks, broiled to perfection in an 1800⁰ oven and lavishly basted in butter, are a testament to the restaurant's commitment to quality and flavor. The Ribeye Steak, in particular, was a standout, melting in the mouth with each savory bite. Complementing the steak, the lobster mac'n cheese was a delightful surprise, brimming with substantial chunks of lobster that underscored the dish's luxury.
While dining at Ruth's Chris comes with a higher price tag than your average steakhouse, the cost is justified by the unparalleled quality of both the food and the overall experience. It's clear that what you're paying for transcends the meal itself, offering instead a foray into luxury dining at its finest.
For those looking to treat themselves to an exceptional culinary journey, Ruth's Chris Steak House in Baton Rouge is an excellent choice. The combination of exquisite food, elegant ambiance, and exemplary service makes it a must-visit destination. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking to indulge in a memorable...
Read moreI have finally eaten at all of the fancy steak places I know of. Ruth’s, Sullivans, Buddys (Hammond), Flemings. Ruth’s was slightly more expensive than Flemings, but not by much. I ordered the ribeye at all of them for scientific research purposes. Food wise, Ruth’s has the best steaks, Flemings the best sides, and Buddy’s the best overall (it is by far the cheapest). The table bread was awesome. Steaks were cooked 100% perfectly, which is hard to get because medium means something different everywhere you go. I ordered the ribeye and my girl ordered the New York strip. The ribeye was better than the other three places ribeyes. My girl didn’t care for the New York strip, she said it was very salty. I didn’t notice, but the ribeye was definitely better. The salads were great. I ordered the chopped and my girl the Caesar. Both were great, and the chopped presentation was very unique. The sides were pretty disappointing. We ordered mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and broiled tomato. The tomato must have had sugar on it, it tasted like ketchup. The creamed spinach was bland, and the mashed potatoes tasted homemade (which is good for $3 side, but for a fancy steak place at $10 it needs to be otherworldly). Gave my girl a cheesecake since we were celebrating her birthday. Probably the best cheesecake we have had. Overall a fantastic experience. Our waitress Diamond was excellent and friendly. The water glasses did not get less than half full (or empty?). Bathrooms...
