I have been coming to Sweetwaters for years for their delicious donuts.. I live all the way south of Jackson, so it’s almost an hours drive one way… Today I went there with my eight-year-old son to get the homer Simpson donuts like we always do.. It’s the family favorite so we loaded up as much as we could.. There was a couple next to us who had walked in after us and after I said I wanted four out of the five homer Simpson donuts they all started talking about how they wanted homer Simpson as well… I assumed they had more in the back but just i case one of the people behind me wanted one I left one and took 4… The lady that was serving the donuts to us was incredibly rude and said to the woman in the back, “Bring out a fresh tray of these homer Simpson’s and throw this one out (the one that i had left for whoever may have wanted it) It was incredibly rude because she stated right in front of me basically that the ones I had picked out were worthy of the trash.. because she thought I was selfish.. like how was i supposed to know the people behind me would want the same donuts!?? And the people beside me giggled and one of them even took a deep breath about it… Here I am looking like a jerk in front of my eight year old.. I will never ever go back. The donuts are good but customer service absolutely sucks. I can’t believe it. Older lady with blue eyes and long gray n black hair… Ive been a Loyal customer for years.. constantly recommending this place.....
Read moreConsistently voted best donut shop in West Michigan with Louie's in Marshall second. Been to Sweetwater's twice since moving to the area 2 years ago. The muffin was very, very oily and devoid of any of the flavor it's name promised. Today, the filled Bismark was noticeably undercooked and filled with a marshmallow-y, unflavored and unfamiliar product. I detected no flavor of any kind in the maple bar or it's glaze, not even yeast. There was a single chocolate glazed item which had been deposited on the floor of the glass case which, from the shrinkage of the bread and dessication of the glaze, appeared to have been there for some time. In another area of the same case, a muffin had jumped ship only to be crushed repeatedly and eventually dismembered by the product tray being returned to the case. A sad state of affairs.
By all means, if you can't wait the 15 minutes it will take to get to Louie's in Marshall, then wander in to the Battle Creek Sweetwater's. But I recommend you take that drive east on Michigan Avenue past the casino and into Marshall for a little friendly Saturday morning doughnut competition between Louie's on Michigan Ave downtown and the Dark Horse Commons bakery due south of Brook's Fountain just across the RR tracks. I think you'll see a new and serious contender in the local doughnut scene of west Michigan from ...
Read moreI used to get donuts here growing up. My birthday is this Saturday and I wanted to place a large order for my work so I could surprise my coworkers. I even filled out a form online and browsed beforehand for an idea of what I would like. I waited a few hours and did not hear back. It is to my understanding that they are open til later in the day (8pm), and I called around five. They have poor customer service, were condescending and impatient. I didn't know when I would be able to come in so instead I tried to call ahead but I suppose they do not take kindly to business. Anytime I asked a question I was met with a pregnant silence and the employee got very defensive when I asked if she was writing anything down. I just wanted a general idea of their best sellers so that I could configure a good variety pack but they dismissed my idea and told me to figure it out and look online, which I already had done. I'm very sorry that I attempted to have a nice birthday celebration. I too work in the service industry and I never would talk to a customer like how I was spoken to. I'll be taking my business to Dunkin's or perhaps Louie's in Marshall who I am very fond of. This review pertains to the location on SW Capital. Thanks for making me cry for...
