Starfish & Chips — Restaurant in Bayonne

I REALLY wanted to like this place since it’s really close to home. I ordered a whole lobster, fish and chips and rice pudding. Kid you not the only decent tasting thing was the rice pudding and even that I had to force myself to eat it. It was bland and the rice was not fully cooked. The biggest disappointment was the lobster.. I cracked it open and it was completely spoiled. I felt soo sick to my stomach and felt such disappointment since this place is known for quality lobster. If their chef can’t tell if a lobster is spoil without cracking it open that’s a huge red flag. I obviously threw out the lobster and decided to try and eat the fish and chips. Again something was spoiled not sure if it was the tarter sauce or fish but something was sour and I had to throw out that entire meal. The fish also tasted like freezer burn. I spend $50 on food I didn’t even get to enjoy. I tried to contact the store but have not been able to reach someone. I would be wary...

Was in the mood for some seafood, I live in Bayonne so decided to try this place. My girl and I, decided to check it out and eat there. Seafood is best fresh, so that’s what we did. First thing we noticed, the gentleman helping us ( seemed like the owner) made sure the table to was not only clean, but sanitized. This isn’t your average restaurant, it’s a quaint spot only two tables available. More of a takeout vibe.

He was very kind and accommodating. We ordered the fish and chips and some fried shrimp! The fish and chips were fresh and good. It was whiting, I would have preferred cod fish, but, it was still good!!! The shrimp were on the salty side but AMAZING. We enjoyed it so much we already made plans to go back again...

We placed an order for pick up and had to turn around and go back to ask for a properly filled lobster roll, and they stoll hardly filled the roll. When I got home, I also realized that the corn on the cob I ordered was missing. The fish and chips were fine... no sauce provided. On top top of that, they weren't very responsive to my husband and wouldn't hand him the order. I guess they expected him to reach across the counter? My husband had to explicitly ask for them to give him the order if it was ready, after already letting them know he was there for a pick up. Really disappointing considering we pass by this place a lot and would have loved to keep...
