Decided to give Basils a second try after a mediocre visit last year and wow it will be our last. We were seated and waited 15 with no service, we had to physically get up and go ask someone if a server was available. The table next to us sat after our 15 minute wait and was immediately approached by a waiter, they had their drinks before anyone said anything to us. Someone finally came to get our drink order and we ordered appetizers, so when he brought our drinks he wanted to take our food order so we ask to wait until our appetizers came and he was like we are closing and you need to order. It was 8:30 on Saturday night. Very rude and multiple things we tried to order were not available, like pizza crust or ice tea. We were told veggies were a green bean medley but that is not what was served. They literally served rubbery zucchini covered in red onions, it was disgusting. My pesto pasta tasted like $1 bag of pasta you buy in the grocery store with 3 chicken tenders on it. Also my food came 15 minutes after my husband and kids. The strawberry mojito was watered down and tasted like I was drinking mint and water. My husband ordered the risotto which was laughable to even call it that, disgusting. My daughters teriyaki chicken was overcooked, she couldn’t even chew it as the crust was so dry. To top off our whole experience, the server was not nice, very unpleasant and obviously did not want to be there. I can understand one or two things being wrong with a family meal but all of our meals were terrible. I literally feel like I tossed $125.00 in the trash, I was embarrassed to complain because it was all so bad. We had to get something else to eat after we left. We will...
Read moreI'm torn with this place, because it could have just been my experience.
The service was fantastic. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, not pushy, and just did everything great. If I rated for service alone, it would be 5 stars.
The flipside was the food. I can't say it was outright bad- it wasn't. I got the pesto chicken linguine and some gnocchi. It was just... lacking.
It tasted like they removed all salt from the kitchen before cooking. The dishes had a hint of flavor and occasionally a really good bite, but otherwise just tasted like they were on mute. The person I went with had a similar reaction. A little salt added helped pull the dish together a lot, but it's easy to tell the difference of adding in post and adding during cooking.
I'll probably end up trying this again in the future to see if it was just what I ordered, but as is, I can't really recommend it. Maybe if you have overactive taste buds that pick up everything or far too much money.
Fries were pretty bomb though, I'll...
Read moreThis place is so disappointing for Sunday Brunch. PLEASE DON'T DO IT! Me and my friends went today based on their false Facebook advertisement for Sunday Brunch and omelet bar. It is a basic brunch you can get from a hotel, except there was some kind of light colored pancakes with bananas in top, very off tasting cheesy hashbrowns, and some kind of apples from a can with cereal on top! YES cereal! Then randomly had dry spaghetti and meatballs, some kind of salry baked fish dish with papaya, and some kind of green beans with something white on them. For the price, me and my friends asked about the omelet bar that was advertised. The owner was very rude and told us we could have gone to Frisch's or Golden Corral. How insulting is that! Especially in this economy for a business!! I do NOT recommend this place and will not go back based on how this restaurant's owner treated...
