My encounter was about a month ago and what started out good quickly turned the opposite once Management came into the picture. The LAST thing I thought when stopping by here a month ago to get a small bag of tortilla chips to go (because Taco Bell up the road forgot mine) was that I was going to be judged for wearing rubber boots....and then denied service!!!! I had just spent the past 5hrs helping my aunt save all her stuff from the nightmare flood caused by broken pipes, so I was in rubber boots and since it was a rainy, winter night, a big coat as well. The young hostess that greeted me was sweet and amazing. She happily took my order and went in back to grab my handful of chips to go, saying it would even be on the house. While I waited, 2 other employees came out to talk about the door alarm that wasn't working. The main lady doing most of the talking went in back with the other employee and when the hostess came out w/ my chips it changed to they would have to charge me. Fine, no problem. I didn't ask for it free in the first place and I expect to pay for my own. I gave her my card. When she came back my card that had worked at Taco Bell 5 seconds earlier suddenly wasn't working at their establishment. Ok, then. I just left completely frustrated w/ my day, It wasn't until I saw everything was good w/ my account once I got in my car that I figured out what they had actually done and how I had actually been treated. No wonders they were COMPLETELY dead at 5:30pm on a Thursday! Shame on...
Read moreWe went to Big Reds for lunch. It was not busy. Our waitress came to take our order. I ordered, then my hubby. She didnt even give my hubby an opportunity to sub something else for steak fries and she didnt ask if he wanted steak fries or tots even. She rushed away as soon as he finished speaking. We both ordered a blue moon. My orange slice was room temp and was all dried up... who knows how long it had been sitting out. Fine, we drink our beer and wait for the food. My hubby ordered chicken strips and I ordered the philly cheesesteak. Our waitress brings our food and again, rushes away... I had to raise my voice with an "excuse me" just to get a cup of ranch and again, she didnt give my husband an opportunity to ask for a small cup of honey mustard... she just rushed away. My husband's chicken strips were strange. The chicken was ok but the breading had burnt chunks in it. It was gross. My philly was the worst I've ever had. The onions and peppers weren't cooked all the way. The cheese was not melted and the meat was bland with no seasoning. The menu said it came with creamed horseradish, but it was totally dry. Worst service and worst philly cheesesteak ever. I honestly dont know how this place has 4 stars. I would think a 3 star overall at best. This is our 3rd visit. 2 were horrible... the waitresses are unhappy and lord does it show. One of the times we went, service was good and food was ok. But honestly, today was a huge waste of $40... I'm not happy and do not reccomend...
Read moreI have worked as a Chef before, so I understand that the Food Service industry is no walk in the park. As such I can generally from time to time excuse bad service, and even to some degree the occasional bad food. What I cannot and will not excuse is both bad food and bad service.
The waitress seemed like she was at the end of a long shift and could care less about anyone there for dinner. She seemed to not really care about anything. When asked for something she would act like it was the most unreasonable request in the world (a refill) and come back and basically shove the requested and offending item at you.
Then we get to the food. It is extremely over priced to begin with, exemplified by $1.50 for a single egg. I ordered the stuffed potato bite appetizer and the Big Red's Chili Burger. Somehow the appetizer seemed almost cold and wet inside as if it had been taken straight from the freezer/packaging, thrown into a deep fryer to warm it up on the outside then slapped on the plate. Then came the burger. We are talking $12 for a burger that you would get at Jack in the Box. Preprocessed, premeasured, precut, and barely a 1/4lb patty. It was also raw. The fries were quite good though, standard steak house fries, though you only receive about 6 of them.
Overall not worth the time, effort, or ensuing upset stomach from...
