Horrible experience. I am writing to express my profound disappointment with the service I received during my recent visit to this establishment. As first-time patrons, my party and I arrived at approximately 8:30 PM, one hour prior to the stated closing time. Shortly after being seated, we were presented with the bill, creating an immediate sense of being rushed and unwelcome.
While we understand the demands of the service industry, the lack of attentiveness from the staff was glaring. Our request for initial guidance with the menu was met with neglect, leaving us to navigate the dining experience unassisted. Furthermore, an incident occurred when a staff member inadvertently placed their hand into my companion's water glass. There was no apology offered, nor was the drink replaced.
Approximately 15 minutes later, a staff member returned to collect the bill without a word. Finding no payment, they stood the bill upright on our table. The repeated attempts to collect payment, were intrusive and unsettling. The act of placing the bill upright on our table was a blatant violation of our dining space and added to the feeling of being hurried. At 9:10 PM, When it became clear that we had not yet paid, we were abruptly informed that payment was required immediately due to the impending 9:30 closing time. They also told us that we could not remain more than 10 minutes past closing. This constant pressure from the staff significantly detracted from our dining experience.
The culmination of these negative experiences led to our decision not to leave a gratuity following our payment. This decision was met with an unprofessional and confrontational response from a staff member. Upon retrieving the check, the server immediately directed her attention to the tip section, noting its emptiness. She then instructed us to 'tip here,' pointing to the designated area. When we declined, she questioned, 'are you gonna tip?' Upon receiving no for a response, she abruptly departed in a displeased manner. Such behavior is unacceptable and indicative of a severe lack of training and customer service skills.
Given the substandard service, intrusive behavior, and the overall negative atmosphere, I cannot recommend this establishment. The experience, which cost approximately $40 per person, was far from satisfactory. While I am tempted to seek a refund, the prospect of further engagement with this establishment is unappealing. Read morewe came in at lunch and got seated right away. 2 adults and 2 children age 5 and 8. ( $12.50 per child that wasn't going to eat) We told them the kids won't eat. Sure what ever I will pay half price. We use to be able to just order sauce at an additional $2. Now it's a buffet of sauce and everyone at the table is required to participate. So that's an additional 8 of sauce we weren't going to use except for one portion of sauces. They said there's other stuff on the buffet to eat like cake, pastry and dessert. A sweet taro soup dessert that was water down. We ask for more cake they said they were out ( this was only lunch). Fine I understand that things run out. When we order our meat it came out in portion for 4 adult. We said there's only 2 adult eating. We ask them to take back the meat since we haven't even started. So they brought out smaller portion. Before they had smaller portion which was great. We order the first round and they had missing mushroom and veggies. When I ask they guy snap at me. It's coming. Then 30 min later we saw the table next to us they had mushroom. We ask and he said it just came in he said he will get us some. Another 15 min so I just place a 2nd round still it came with no mushroom again. So I ask and they said its coming. 15 min still nothing. We complain to the manager at the end there was no mushroom he apologies but he then said you left too much meat I can't give you a discount. We told them its only 2 adult eating but they keep bringing out 4 portion. They never refill our broth until we ask and it was very low vs before they kept an eye on it and filled it for us. Service is getting worst and worst. My 5 year old says the chair is dirty and sticky I had wipe it clean with my own wipes. 2 kids portion ($25), $8 in sauce, limited service, limited products cake, dessert and nasty Kim chi and display of food on the buffet. Read moreI have never been treated so disrespectful as I was at Happy Lamb. My first time here and we ordered the all you can eat. No one cared to explain to us how to order the two menu options. The food was delicious but we had a lot of meat left over. When we got our check we were charged an additional $30 for wasting food. I told them I would not pay that since no one explained the ordering to us. All the non meat portions came out in correct portions for two guests but the amount of meat was significantly more than what two people could eat. But how am I to know that they would not portion the meat for two people when you order more variety of meats to try? The manager was condescending and made me feel like we were in the wrong. He made fun of me when I said I wanted to talk to the owner and was going to give me his number but laughing as he said, “911“ in from of all the waiting guests in the lobby. He also said I don’t ever want to see you back here again. I don’t know how he thinks anyone would come back to a place where they were treated so poorly and disrespectfully. I am a sixty year old female doctor, not that matters, except by now, I know what customer service should be. When a place does not explain things and then penalize and blame the customer for something the restaurant did not make clear. They asked me, didn’t I read the fine micro print in the bottom corner of the menu it which no one besides the young have good enough eye sight to see less be able to read it. I still can’t believe I experienced such perverse customer service. The manager seemed to enjoy every minute of treating his customer and elder this way. The hostess did nothing to help de-escalate the situation making this whole situation so unfortunately sad. Looking at the reviews, I see I am not the only one to think poorly of the service here.
