Very fast for a fresh woodfired pizza place! Average $14 for pizza... But $8.75 for a glass of wine- to spend $25 on dinner at a walk-in pizza place is quite steep for me to return. This is not your typical-ingredient pizza (the owner will mention this many times); mostly Neapolitan (Italian style) names of ingredients and signature pizzas-you won't find the words 'pepperoni and cheese pizza' anywhere on the menu. Surprisingly, the interior is a bit too drab and industrial for a romantic night out here or a rainy day. I ordered the Diavolo and it was a surprise at how spicy it was and when I asked to withhold the jalepenos the owner insisted on me trying his"remarkable" creation. Personally it was so damn spicy and there was quite a bit of char on my pizza which actually made my fingers and napkin left with powdery black char. All in all, I prefer the more basic wopd fired pizza place down the road. Although both owners seen to have quite an inflated and cocky view of their business. Maybe you will like them. Good luck.

I want to start by saying that we love Pizza. Every where we go, from the East Coast to the West Coast and everywhere in between, we try the local small business pizzas. We love this place! The pizzas were amazing. Very high quality ingredients. Extremely reasonable prices. I saw some reviews complaining about the price and all I have to say is, you get what you pay for. Not sure what kind of pizzas those people are used to but it must not be great. Trust me, the prices are more than generous here. The quality is top notch. We bought two Pizzas. The Quattro Formaggi and the Salsiccia Picante Italiana. So delicious. The tomato sauce is light and bright. Perfect! Generous portions as well. This pizza was so good that decided to order a Margherita for later. It didn't make it home. It was eaten immediately. The only negative is that we live 4.5 hours away but when we are in the area again. We absolutely will come back . This is a hidden gem I think everyone should try!!! 10 stars

We ordered two vegetarian pizzas after hearing the hype for this place. Unfortunately, after getting home, we clearly had a pizza topped with sausage. Our meat-eating friend confirmed that we had meat on it. We promptly called to sort it out and were met with a combative response from the employee who made the pizzas. They offered no recourse and assured us we had the right ones. We tried to explain the situation, and without seeing the pizza, the employee continued to insist we had the right one. It’s too bad. The other, actually vegetarian pizza was delicious. The owner even seemed nice. But the rude response and lack of help make this an extremely easy skip. Edit based on the owner’s response: I’ve attached a photo of the pizza, clearly missing the vegetables, pine nuts, and basil that the owner lovingly placed on it. We can safely upgrade from “easy skip” to “recommend avoiding at all costs.” Toxic business, not worth your time.

I honestly can't say enough good things about Brett and his Maiale di Volo Wood Fired Catering crew and their pizza creations!! They roll up in a very cool classic truck and they have the perfect, efficient set-up. They catered my daughter and son-in-law's wedding and from the first contact with Brett to the last, it was the best caterer's experience I had in a year of wedding planning. I checked into all different types of food truck and non-traditional wedding catering options, and Brett was the most cooperative, agreeable and helpful one from the start. I had a lot of questions and probably some unusual requests, but Brett was patient and accommodating with everything I asked! Also, I'm pretty sure a lot of vendors prices go up once you say it's for a wedding, but that was not the case with Brett. His costs were more than fair, especially for all that he provided, AND he boxed up and left all the leftover pizza!!! As great as this experience was, the high point was still the incredibly delicious pizza!!! They made a variety of pizzas with a mix of usual AND unusual toppings on homemade sourdough pizza crust with all fresh, top-of-the-line ingredients. We are still hearing praise galore from friends and family about how brilliant it was to have gourmet pizza over boring traditional wedding food. Everyone mentions how delicious and unique all the food was, and they're especially talking about the gorgonzola and grape pizza! I grabbed a slice thinking it was black olives but then took a bite and said, "What is happening in my mouth right now?!" It was pure deliciousness! I'm now planning to visit the Maiale restaurant in Beaverton as soon as I possibly can. Thank you Brett for helping to make my daughter and son-in-law's wedding such a special experience for...

Just giving one star, because while the pizza was good, the attitude was not. One of the pizzas just had veggies on it, so I asked for my vegan friend if that particular pizza was vegan, and the guy didn't even turn around, he just yelled at us "do you see any meat on it?!" As if sauce and bread never contain animal products.... All three of us were confused by his demeanor. I have never experienced something so rude, just from a simple, genuine question. I told him, animal products aren't just visual meat and then he yelled at us again saying, "I don't know, I didn't even make that one, but I've been doing this for a long time and I'm confident in what I do." We were so confused because not at any point did any of us question his skill.... we simply wanted to know if that pizza was vegan, nothing else. The owner responses to these reviews tell me a lot more though about this place though.

Edit to the owners response: Yikes, are you okay? Yes, you may absolutely forward this review to the the bride and groom. Would you also like me to have the other two people I was with write reviews as well? I can assure you I didn't leave anything out, but it appears you are trying to change the order of how things actually happened. Funny. He yelled "do you see any meat on it?!" directly after I asked if it was vegan. Nothing prompted that rudeness. Super weird that you invalidate everyone who writes about a negative experience they've had. Really sad to see you are unable to take accountability for rude behavior and leave even more rude responses. A yes or no response would have sufficed, and yet he chose to be rude instead. Again, not questioning your "35 years experience", just your crappy attitudes which you've made very apparent again...

I did not have a good experience at all. The young woman working was rude and impatient. She acted extremely inconvenienced when I asked to add an extra item to my pizza. When I informed her my order was to-go I was told they only allow dine in. I was shocked they only serve customers who are able to sit and eat at their establishment, naturally I made the decision to go elsewhere but only after the rude gal made a snide comment to me. I had to turn around an explain that my time frame for getting a meal was limited and didn’t appreciate being made a spectacle in front of staff and other patrons. The owners may want to consider hiring friendlier people.

Edited to address the owners rude response; As someone who’s managed business’s for eighteen years, including two restaurants in Bend I’m appalled by your response. Part of me wondered if your defensive reaction was a one off thing, but after reading the one and two star reviews it’s evident your defensive reactions are common practice. If you can’t take critical feedback with grace, you won’t be able to improve your business and more importantly your customer service. I stand by my review and am disappointed that your staff wasn’t trained to offer alternatives to customers who might be indecisive or gravitating towards a more intricate menu item. It’s evident you’re passionate about your cuisine but love is blind and being oblivious to peoples mistreatment and your staff’s unprofessionalism will not help your business, nor does calling your customers names or accusing them of lying. My review was an honest one and your response is reason why your business is likely struggling. Have some humility and enough tact to take critical feedback...
