Shameful Treatment & Theft from Teenage Customers at Sizzle Pie Beaverton
As a business owner for 30 years, I'm deeply appalled by the exploitative and unethical conduct my daughters and their friends experienced at Sizzle Pie in Beaverton. What began as a simple pizza outing turned into a distressing case of financial deception and callous disregard for young customers. During checkout, after initially charging one daughter's Cash App card $31, the cashier proactively offered to split the bill when they overheard her telling her sister she should have paid for half – only to re-ring the transaction to each for half, resulting now in a clear $31 double charge. When my daughter immediately pointed out the duplicate charge showing on her app, the cashier dismissively claimed it was "normal" and promised a refund "shortly."
After two days with no refund, we returned to the store. Staff instructed us to wait a week. Seventeen days later, still with no resolution, we went back. The same employee acknowledged the error, expressing disbelief that the refund hadn’t processed, yet shockingly refused to take responsibility. When asked how they would fix their mistake, we were coldly told, "That's your problem between you and the bank" and instructed to take it up with their GM or our bank. This wasn't an oversight; it was an admission of fault followed by an outright refusal to make things right for the teenagers they overcharged.
The profound indifference is staggering. If issuing a refund was truly impossible (which I find hard to believe), the bare minimum would have been offering a goodwill gesture like a free pizza – costing them pennies but showing they valued these young customers. Instead, Sizzle Pie chose to steal $31 from minors and treat them as an inconvenience. This experience revealed a complete lack of integrity and customer care. Consequently, you have permanently lost not just my family's business, but also that of my daughters' friends, their families, our entire network, and anyone who hears how Sizzle Pie callously took advantage of a group of trusting teens and abandoned them to deal with the fallout of your error....

After payment the cashier seemed really interested in walking away from me without giving me my soda cup, which I had to ask for when they walked away from the register and appeared to start heading toward the interior of the establishment. They slowly walked back to the register (easily 10 steps), looking defeated, hands me my cup and speeds away.
I dined in with my roommate, who which got his order promptly and ate it entirely before me (~15 minutes). During that time I could see both the cashier and manger standing/sitting behind the register for the duration , as if all their tasks were complete.
Asked cashier and manager about my food delay after roommate finished his food. Received no explanation, apology or accommodation, just hurried feet and blank stares. Got my pizza within a minute later. Worked in multiple customer service jobs so I know the first words out of someone's mouth in this scenario should have been "We're Sorry".
During the entire time there is a full pepperoni pizza that is sitting in the display, it's not like they had to make a fresh pie. Sliced and ready to go.
Needs better staffing if a customer has to tell employees multiple times on an Sunday at 5pm to do their job.
I even made the mistake of tipping before all of this.
No, I will not call the restaurant to discuss it.
No, I will not accept a $5 dollar slice of pizza to off set this. It's not worth my time and I'll get more value out of this review instead of wasting the energy to go back.
No, I will not accept an apology now. Had plenty of opportunities to do that when I was there.
Pizza was great, soda was great. Even intended on visiting the arcade but after I choked down that pizza my heart wasn't in it.
Thanks for...
Read moreWe are big fans of Sizzle Pie. Their customer service, pies, and location make this a Best of Beaverton.
Beaverton is not known for it's Pizza, so when Sizzle Pie migrated from Portland, it was a welcome addition to the thriving food scene in Beaverton. After this initial hiccups of their launch in Beaverton, including having to get new ovens, Sizzle Pie has found their groove.
Their pie selection is very creative, fun, and delicious, catering to both carnivores and veg heads alike. We loved their Vegan Bánh mì pie they had a few months ago. Sizzle Pie's crust is awesome - chewy, with a bit of crunch and sometimes char. They use a classic pizza oven, not the conveyor belt oven that most others use. Also, the garlic knots ROCK. Get a large, cause the small won't be enough. You can get beers to go, and they have Jone's soda on tap. Also, if you don't want a whole pie, or just want to sample different flavors, you can order by the slice.
The special of the month for Dec 2022, the Hellraiser, was AWESOME. Topped with two types of pepperoni (including the little cups), bacon and sausage. The sausage is some of the best around. I just wish they had banana peppers to add.
Overall, great pie, funky atmosphere, and...
