03/08/20: 3.75 out of 5 - I came here with my wife and Mother-in-law. This was not only my first time trying Tan Tan Cafe & Delicatessen, but theirs, as well. With most Asian restaurants, I have my reservations, but I am always hopeful.
The Business Admittedly, I was impressed with the outside of the restaurant. Looked clean and well kept. However, granted that it is Beaverton, the parking is a bit snug. Inside, the seating area seemed to be pretty well spaced out between tables, though. Easy to move about. Impressed with how the restaurant is kept quite clean, to include the vents! I have a thing for poorly maintained vents in any restaurant. Scored: 4.5 out of 5.
The Staff The friendliness and attentiveness of the staff leaves some room for improvement. At first, the staff are nice and accommodating, but later to just ignore us. Had to wave my hands high in the air to get some attention for service. Not sure what the problem was, but it is the food service industry, and can be better. Especially, when many restaurants and eateries are pushing the "tipping agenda". Another issue I had was that one of the staff was sweeping the floor near my table. Come on now! It's kicking up dirt and dust into the air which has a very high probability of getting into my food! Hence, my issue with poorly maintained vents. Scored: 3.0 out of 5.
The Food I had ordered Pho Dac Biet, which is my benchmark for any Vietnamese restaurant/eatery that I am not familiar with. Unfortunately, it didn't score very well for me. The noodles were still cold, and what seemed "out of the package". The broth was okay. It had MSG in it, which gives me a headache in minutes. However, the good thing about the pho was the meat cuts were good. I tried my wife's Bun Bo Huy Chay, Salad Rolls, and my mother-in-law's duck salad. Unfortunately, it was not to my, or their, liking. I was am hopeful, though. Scored: 2.5 out of 5.
The Bathroom This may seem to be a funny thing to rate, but the bathroom in any restaurant/eatery should ALWAYS BE CLEAN and in tip top condition and working order...ALWAYS. Fortunately, for Tan Tan the bathrooms were clean and for the most part, nice. Scored: 4.0 out of 5.
The Price Surprisingly, Tan Tan's prices are fair. I have eaten in a lot of Pho (Vietnamese) restaurants and the prices are becoming outrageous. Keep the prices down and fair, the patrons will keep coming. Scored: 4.5 out of 5.
If I am back in the area, I may stop in again and try a different menu item. If I do, I will update this review accordingly. Like I said, I am hopeful. However, if you are in Beaverton, and finding yourself wanting a decent Vietnamese restaurant at a good price then give Tan Tan a try. Your experience may be better than mine.
As I always say, try it out once and decide for...

This is my favorite pho place. I go in every Friday. The staff are friendly. And the food is amazing. #70 and #40 on the menu are my favorites. Definitely would recommend this place to others ... Just be aware the parking lot is very small!!
It's been a few years. (2024July) I still love and have nothing negative to say about the owners and original staff. I don't wish them a lower review. But I must be honest. Since covid, the renovation of the restaurant has changed some things, and it looks amazing, yet the newest/ younger staff aren't as welcoming or inviting as before. And something drastically has changed with the quality and quantity of the food. I haven't figured out if it's due to the day of the week and what employees are in or if that's just the new way of doing things 🤔. The price of everything went up inlet that. But the quality should never go down. There's been 3 times the porkchop rice special plate has had pieces of a porkchop placed on rice with an overcooked egg, sausage, and rubber shrimp that still has the tail and poop veins attached! The pho is still good quantity wise, but something about it is not the same either more oily than before. I'm not sure. I'm going to give it a few more tries before completely giving up. But 35 bucks every Friday for food I don't finish is not something I'll be willing to continue doing. I hope they get through this hiccup. And that other people are being honest and asking for the quality and quantity to go back to the little hole in the wall authentic pho restaurant they once...
Read moreHave been here multiple times and the Pho is great. This last time my Pho bowl came with a long hair on the side, when I noticed it so did the employee and she looked at me , laughed nervously and continued to walk away. I brushed it off, stuff happens ok. But what really bothered me was I’d ordered a Sourpop smoothie, as I mentioned I’d ordered one other times I’d come so I know what they taste like. This time though the smoothie had a bitter taste and to me slightly foul. I was embarrassed to speak of but it is an $7 smoothie and we work hard for our money so after two sips I got up to tell them. The young man employee was hesitant and sighed, I said I could pay for another but I didn’t like the taste. He said it was okay after a pause and asked if I wanted it remade, to which I said yes. Not even three minutes later and a young woman stomps to the side of the table and passively aggressively says “SORRY you didn’t like the taste of your other smoothie, HERE is your new one I hope you like it” , set my drink down hard and walked away. It was SO rude, I was so embarrassed. I don’t think I was wrong to ask for a new drink, after all I am paying for it. I really appreciate all the work that employees do in the food industry and I really did NOT understand this employees attitude. It was as if it directly taken personal. It made me be completely turn off to this place. Very very sad as I’d been a patron many...
