A few months ago I learned about ToGo's via an ad or via some other service......and highly anticipated having a 'delivery sandwich option' to other 'delivery restaurants' -such as Papa John's or pizza places.
From the ad I read, I had the very OBVIOUS impression that ToGo's is a great, highly rated full-bore DELIVERY restaurant -as all indications on their website suggest this as well; moreover about all google reviews rate this place very high and mention no restrictions regarding "normal" deliveries.
Several weeks ago, I 'first' 'attempted' to place an order for delivery to my residence -only to find out that they close very early.
About two weeks ago I made a 'second' attempt to place an order for delivery sometime after 4 p.m. -but well before they close. When I called them I was shocked to find out that -YEP- they DON'T DELIVER TO RESIDENCES AFTER 4 P.M.: They're somehow open until 7 p.m. BUT THEY DON'T DELIVER TO RESIDENCES AFTER 4 P.M. They only deliver to businesses after 4 p.m. I was extremely peeved and did say some rude things to the person who took my call. She explained to me that after 4 p.m. they only deliver to businesses with orders that tally a minimum of 50 dollars -due to a limited amount of drivers that they have.
TODAY, I 'attempted' to make one last order for delivery -at around noon. I filled out an order online but saw no option to enter my delivery address after deciding on a menu item -so I called Togo's to place the order. Once I called them I was told that they DON'T MAKE ANY DELIVERIES UNLESS ORDERS TALLY AT LEAST 50 DOLLARS...EVER. I was absolutely infuriated and swore at the person who took my call and hung up.
There is NO indication in the ads I read or reader reviews or on the website that there are stupid, exact, and screwy stipulations REGARDING placing a simple order for delivery to a residence -whether it be TIME of day or DOLLAR AMOUNT of order.
My main interest -if not only- in ToGo's was the fact that I had EVERY IMPRESSION that this restaurant had simple uncomplicated DELIVERY features. Now that I realize that there's no reason to ever place an order for delivery, I really do not have a desire to actually eat inside this restaurant at this locale.
--WARNING-- This is NOT a "delivery"-chain...............unless you're throwing...
Read moreWow. An unforgettable experience and not in a good way. First let me say the folks making the sandwiches were very nice and for the most part customer service-oriented.
But it’s the owner who really struck me as an asshole. I went over the sandwich order very clearer with the person making it. She made it incorrectly. What’s more, there was a tiny tiny fly in the sandwich. I’m positive. I don’t like leaving bad reviews. They at first didn’t believe me but I was very very gentle and gracious in how I said it. They remade it properly, fine. And they said the owner would be there soon and that a refund wouldn’t be a problem.
I let it go. I thanked them and said it’s all good. That’s what good humans do. Unfortunately the owner finally arrived and decided to do the exact opposite of what every reasonable manager or person in charge should do and accommodate the customer. I was already at my car and he went out of his way to follow me to my car and said “Hi I’m the owner.” But instead of apologizing, he tried to alpha male me and asserted there would be no refund. I don’t think it’s part of the owner’s job description to assert dominance.
I won’t be going back, and hope he can educate himself on how to properly interface with people who buy food at his...
Read moreThe sandwiches are fine, not really anything to write home about. A bit on the pricier side but not terrible. In my opinion, Geraldi's over on Canyon Road is 10x better.
The layout of the space, even before covid, was/is the worst. One is not given a clear place to order or pay. POS machines are oddly placed making it more difficult for employees than necessary. If they built an L-shaped counter using the west wall I think they could save space and create a more efficient working environment.
Ordering online or over the phone seems to be a problem area for this place. I've read some reviews describing long waits for alternative forms of ordering besides in-person. And just today when I ordered on-line and arrived at the store they had know idea about the order. Someone had to go in the back find it on a different system and send it to the main POS system to get the order out. Needs work. Immediately made my sandwich but can't think my opinion of the sandwich was tainted by my experience with the on-line ordering system and the annoyance of the restaurant layout.
Staff were helpful and friendly, I believe my complaints are caused by management saying "if it's not broke don't fix it" but the problem it's been broke from...
