Let me share my experience here. First, know that everyone that goes here is a regular and it kinda seems everyone knows each other’s business. Not my thing to share mine… My first visit, I ate and had drinks at the bar. When I left I grabbed my bag and a book I brought with me along with what I thought was my phone on top. I didn’t look at it, my mistake. Next I get a text from neighbors saying two men are at their house and they have called the police. She shoots a picture to me, I throw my robe on and meet Tony and Erik outside and hand Tony his phone. Apologize for grabbing it and tell him I was going to bring to club in the morning. This is while Erik is screaming at me! We know you stole it!!! A friend and I go to Pub to eat and have drinks. Erik starts in on me again that I stole Tony’s phone! He is there every single day! I have a I phone 13 pro, why would I want to steal an old beat up phone? I drive a $40K car I paid cash for. He told everyone in this bar!!! That I was a theif and I came out in a night gown. I do not recommend this place, because the regulars can get away with anything!!! I got thrown out for raising my voice and calling him a liar. Erik on the other hand puts money in the till daily so they look away. I was raised with morals and ethics, and people like this should not be allowed to bad mouth others like this. It is...
Read moreI go for the food. I've been frustrated that there seems to be no quick/reliable way to get good fish and chips around the mid-cities. Last time I went to LJS, the "fish" was literally about 2 millimeters of white in the middle of a greasy overdone batter. And everyone else seems to be as bad. Not Danny's. This is exactly what I missed from a good Essex chippie. Fillets up to the first joint on your thumb and a bit more, great batter, perfectly done...it's the real deal. Add newspaper and I'd swear it was 1970.
The drinks are good, but the bar is always chocker block and you need to change your medical history from non-smoker to smoker if you spend an hour there. NP; I'll be sure to pack the vape next time. Google says it's not busy until 2pm, which is true for the seating, but the bar is already at capacity by then (at least on all the days I went). Good drink prices, prompt attentive service, I guess they can only do so much with the architecture. Maybe have a "neutral zone" between the two that functions as a bar area until it becomes restaurant seating later? Then bar seating...
Read moreWe have been there many times. Tonight we walked in and the waitress said we have to leave because our daughter is 18. She wasn’t drinking but they would not serve us because she was with us.. we had to leave. I asked the waitress to please check with the manager to be sure; she returned and said, “it’s a no-go” and quickly walked off. We interpreted that to mean the manager said we cannot stay, so I spoke with the manager, Randall, who was not at all apologetic in turning away two repeat, paying customers because our daughter was with us. I reminded him that the law allows her to drink with our permission, but she wasn’t.. he said their “policy” is not to admit anyone under 18 after 10:00. FYI: the policy cost these two and at least two other customers who we’ve Brought to that establishment, and potentially anyone we know or who reads this and believes that management and wait staff fostering relationships with customers is more important to where one chooses to do business than random,...
