Ruby Tuesday — Restaurant in Bedford

I really wanted to write to let you know about an amazing server we had at your Bedford VA location. Sherry (1251) at the end of our vacation on Monday, July 17th. We had to wait for a table and when we finally got close enough to wait inside we discovered there were 2 whole sections of the restaurant vacant, the problem was a staff shortage. Once we were seated we watched to discover Sherry was the only server and handling not only taking care of those dining, but also filling the salad bar. Sherry kept apologizing for òur wait, but once we were seated the timing wasn't bad. It was obvious how hard Sherry was working and she never cut corners on the quality of service she delivers, she spoke warmly to each of us, kept our drinks full and remained cheerful regardless of her situation. She never complained or even stated she was working alone, we actually observed that and heard the hostess explain that to an irritated guest who was demanding a table in one of the empty sections. I counted her tables, but have forgotten the exact number, it was in the teens though. A cook helped once by delivering some of our meals and I believe I saw a manager out serving at one point, but the majority of service was amazing Sherry. I know hiring is difficult in these times, but you should know what a gem you have in Sherry and the team working at Bedford Ruby Tuesday #5286. I treated her generously at our visit, but please let her know that she was appreciated beyond that tip and it was important to me that she be recognized for her hard work and kindness to customers....

Sat at the bar. Took awhile to have my drink order taken but I was in no hurry. Others waited even longer and some just left.

Heard the host say they were understaffed as some complained about the wait but they seem to have plenty of people working. Place was somewhat busy but not slammed by any means. At least 10-12 people congregating around the serving window often. Could see into the kitchen. Seemed appropriately staffed.

Noticed the only bartender was also being used to serve tables. There had to be at least a half a dozen servers working. Restaurant is not that big so something was off about that night.

Chose the Sunday Sirloin special. When it arrived, a large part of it was fat. It was also cooked medium well when I requested medium. Still, it had decent flavor. It came out in reasonable time.

OH they ran out of baked potatoes after I ordered so assumed my order would include it. Food arrived w/o the potato. Bartender never checked in to see if I wanted to sub something. I inquire and finally get her to agree to sub a sweet potato at no additional cost. She did not want to include the sweet potato as a replacement.

I was actually wanting to hang and have another beer but the bartender just closes out my check without checking first. On it was an additional charge for the sweet potato. Reminded her to remove it.

Food was fine. Beer was good. Service was a mess. Something did not add up with how the staff was struggling with...

My family of 4 visited yesterday (2/14) for Valentine's day. We had one of the nicest waiters we have had in any restaurants. Wish I would've gotten his name to give him a shout out. When we walked in we were surprised how clean the restaurant was and they still had a huge salad bar (something you don't see often). We were greeted and seated with in 5 mins of entering. Order taking and receiving were a little on the time costly side. We understood they were busy and it was a holiday. We got a cheeseburger and fries meal, Chicken tender meal, the New Orleans Creole Meal, Bourbon Chicken as well as a Sampler Platter. All the food was fresh and some of the best food we had found in a while. My oldest is very picky and he devoured the chicken tenders and begged for more. My youngest had the cheeseburger and ate it quickly and loved it. My Husband and I shared the New Orleans Creole and Bourbon Chicken. The seafood was fresh and the parmesan cream sauce was to die for delicious lol. The bourbon chicken sauce was very thin and delicious. Our waiter took the time to ask questions to make sure everything was correct, he took the time to make us feel welcomed, he made sure he was ordering the correct size of meals (kids or adults), kind of let us know some about his own family. He kept the table clean and refresh the cups almost immediately. My family will be back! Very pleased with every and look forward to...
