Westernco Donut — Restaurant in Bellevue

My partner lives in Renton and I live in Vancouver BC and I drive to see him about twice a month, and I've driven by this donut shop every single time I arrive to Renton. I've been wanting to check it out since my first visit last October when I drove by for the first time. Well, two days ago I decided to finally stop in and I'm SO GLAD I did! I had a medium coffee and an apple fritter, as it was one of the ones mentioned to me when I asked what their most popular donuts are. This was THE BEST apple fritter I've EVER HAD! The glaze was thick and crusty, it was fried perfectly even, and had LOTS of nice diced apple inside, small enough that ever bite had apple pieces. The problem I find with other places is the apples are cut too big and so not every bite has apple in it. Well this one was P.E.R.F.E.C.T! A great balance of cinnamon as well.

Oh, did I mention I am a Certified Red Seal Chef in Canada!??! Really! I've lived and worked in Various countries and tried donuts from all over, and this apple fritter was INCREDIBLE! They're closed today (Sunday) so tomorrow when I head back to Canada, I plan to stop by and buy some to share at home. 10/10 recommend! The coffee was good too, and prices are definitely reasonable. Atmosphere was pretty basic, I feel neutral about it. I will cry to death if this place...

the donuts are fresh & wonderful..always an amazing array of the "sugary perfection" confection donuts to choose from! ..and they somehow always have my favorite.. french cruellers w/white icing! (i've loved them since childhood, but they are not easy to come by) the airy, fluffy batter formed into those light, puffy"twisty"-looking rings of perfection! the clean & neat display cases are just bursting with beautiful donuts, pastries & savory items, just teasing your tastebuds (we tried the sausages wrapped in pastry, and they were delicious!...just warm in microwave..all family members loved them...(they are on the order of a top quality, well made, gourmet "all beef" hot dog.. (not greasy), really flavorful & great texture...yum! so glad we decided to try them) ...but more than their fresh & delicious donuts, the owners (every one who works in the shop) are so friendly & welcoming...genuinly glad you are in the shop...and very happy to help you. (even opening the doors for you) they are happy to see you, offer amazing, friendly customer service & delicious donuts...who could possibly ask for...

We decided to try Westernco while we were visiting from BC, Canada. After reading the reviews we popped by to get some goodies for our drive back home. As soon as we walked in there was this older woman behind the counter who was so rude! She immediately yelled ‘what you want? Quick!’ My husband and I were surprised at the interaction but we proceeded to take a look at their selection. We ordered some donuts, scones and I specifically asked for an apple fritter (which was not given to me and was left behind the counter in a bag. I told her and she said I will have to order/pay again and now wait until my turn) I’m not sure why she was so angry at us. I suspect some discrimination based on our ethnicity as she was speaking to others just fine. I have never been spoken to or treated this way by an establishment. I walked out and I regretted supporting such a business. Poor customer service. Rude and mannerless. I will be telling all my friends and family of my experience. Definitely will not be coming back next time...
