I'm on a personal adventure that I call my, "Chippin' Away Tour." Where I order nachos whenever they're offered and I rate them. These are solely based on my personal likes/dislikes.
Black Sheep small chicken 7.5/10
Toppings Chicken Tomato Sprinkled Parmesan Black olive Onion
Price (Happy Hour) $9
Cheese type queso
Presentation Ceramic plate Pile of nachos with Parmesan sprinkled on top
Summary First thing to mention is I got the small since it was happy hour and it was a dollar off. So in terms of quantity it was obviously smaller than I would have gotten somewhere else. But it was also half the price. I think the quantity was fair for $9. One noticable thing about these nachos is they have a a unique, maybe made in-house, queso. Which is my favorite type of cheese for nachos. And the queso is my favorite part about these nachos. Another thing that I noticed is the Parmesan on top which isn't something I'm used to.
The stuff I'm docking points for is the chip:topping ratio. I had to finish it off with a fork and that's always going to cost some points. Although it wasn't a bad experience since I liked the toppings and didn't mind continuing to eat them without chips.
Overall, I give these a 7.5. $9 is definitely great price for a single plate for one person. I will have to remember happy hour which...
Read moreComing from Texas, I’m always a little hesitant trying tacos elsewhere but I absolutely loved this place! Such a great vibe and decor; phenomenal cocktails and food! Tried the banda verdita and loved it-perfect balance of flavors. Really enjoyed the seasonal soup they offered - a vegetarian red pozole. The tacos were also delicious! Went with the fried chicken (also gluten free!!) and so good! Comfort food satisfying without being heavy and too rich. Also tried the rock fish taco which was fresh, flavorful and well balanced. The queso fundido was recommended, I was grateful they offered me a side of it (bc I was dining solo and there’s no way I could’ve done more than a side) but that was probably my least favorite thing. Interesting for sure and not bad just not my cup of tea. But also, the name is misleading…a queso fundido is a Mexican queso that is baked in a cast iron and is crispy on the bottom-straight cheese. What they’re doing here is more of a tex mex queso that’s more liquid-based but even more so, it’s like a beer cheese dip (has gluten free beer in it). It’s a fan favorite from what I gather and is good, but it just isn’t a queso fundido. Overall great experience and would...
Read moreFood was mids, probably would have been okay if you’re drunk. But the service was absolute trash, which honestly made the food taste worse. Whoever our server was (some girl with dark hair and round glasses), had the grossest attitude. Very rude, short answers, couldn’t answer questions about what the bar carried, wouldn’t serve more than one drink, rolled her eyes at our table and her other tables more times then I could count, brow was furrowed the enTIRE time. Every time she came to the table her attitude was so abrupt and uncomfortable that conversation around the table literally just stopped bc everyone was so uncomfortable and just wanted her to walk away so we felt allowed to giggle again. It really sucks when the attitude of your waitress ruins your fun time. Like honey, if you’re that miserable in customer service - please find a different job, so sorry you work in a position where people are GOING to ask you multiple questions. For the sake of all of society, including yourself- find a new industry to work in. Will definitely be requesting NOT to have her near my table, if I’m ever unlucky enough to have friends who want to...
