Service was excellent, they make sure you’re taken care of. Staff look as if they enjoy their jobs. We were here for some beers and food. Let me just say we drove from Rock Hill and we weren’t disappointed. He had a Primal burger and it was delicious and cooked to perfection. I had Fish and chips imagine your fish fried in a batter to look like 2 huge egg rolls and steak fries which honestly at this point I didn’t care if they were frozen or not because they were nice and crunchy on the outside, soft and delicious on the inside. I had the Pumpalicious pumpkin ale with a sugar rimmed glass and I don’t usually drink beer but I had 2 of these and I’m glad I did because it literally was like having a spiked slice of grandma’s pumpkin pie. He had Kettle Fog Hazy IPA (it was more to his liking) and an Oktoberfest Marzen. Did I forget our appetizer? We had the boneless wings (ikr it’s his favorite kind) but don’t be fooled they were tasty sauces: Carolina gold and sweet heat they were so good! Crunchy, savory and I promise they don’t look like tenders. If you’re looking for a one stop shop, don’t look any further. I won’t mind the drive, we will be back and they have activities.

Food Only Review: went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and it was terrific! 4 stars instead of 5 because there's no massive wow factor about this place (from what I could see). It's an above average brewery, but nothing that necessarily sets it apart from others. I got a large soft pretzel, The Cuban, and some onion rings. Each item was perfect. Pretzel: came with some beer cheese and mustard, the salt distribution was a bit off, with some parts not receiving any. But other than that, delicious. The Cuban: very large and generous in portion. This will definitely get you on with your day. It's a bit greasy and a bit of an Americanified Cuban, but felt. Onion Rings: so many places give you little tiny rings with no crunch. Here, you're getting the largest rings and THE crunchiest crunch. Couple this with their house made primal sauce and you're gonna have a good time! Go for the food, great variety! I'm sure the beer is good too, but we'll have to find out next time!

I’m an avid traveler for work, and visit breweries around the country. I don’t get the negative reviews. Only ding is maybe the food was a little pricey, but seems like that’s everywhere now. Got a Philly loaded potato and a chicken pesto panini. Both were delicious. The steak on the potato was real, thinly sliced steak. The panini was amazing, and will get it again. The beer on the other hand…fantastic. I prefer Belgians, but they aren’t the norm. Didn’t have any here (maybe the peach wit was close) but every beer was good, and even my wife said 4/4 off bottles her flight were great. She’s not a hop head, and even enjoyed my hazy. I don’t get the 1-2 star reviews. It’s a solid brewery when most are average / below average.

My husband and I have been to Primal Brewery several times, this time we brought a family member who was visiting from FL. We told her all about the place and that she would love it. We arrived around 6:30 on July 6th and encountered one of the rudest, unprofessional staff members we have ever encountered. She was in her mid to late 20's and was wearing her hair in a Princess Leia kind of style. We were very polite and ordered three craft beers and GOD FORBID! three waters. This girl was simply annoyed that we were bothering her and was curt and quite frankly obnoxious. Yet that was not the worst of it, no the coup de grace was when my niece wanted to purchase a T shirt. Now let's be clear one would think that Primal wants to sell them since they have a variety hanging up near the bar. My niece politely asked for the particular shirt and size, 15 mins later this brat, (sorry that is what she is), Slaps the shirt down in front of her and says "We only have a Medium so you're buying it right!" (apparently the area where the shirts are stored is hot and somehow that is our fault) she was clearly shocked by the staff members attitude and unlike the Primal Staff member, kept her grace and said Yes (even though it was not the size she wanted). Then the total price was given and as the tablet is turned towards us the staff member say's (and I am not kidding or exaggerating) "Your gonna tip me for getting the T shirt right?". My sweet niece looked uncomfortable and tipped her and wanted to get out. We were having such a nice evening in Belmont and it had to end this way, with my niece feeling uncomfortable, and just feeling taken advantage of. SHE WAS! my husband went back in, since he was disgusted and spoke to the Manager, who listened, was polite and apologized. My gut tells me this woman has done this before, she clearly is a miserable person who hates her job and takes it out on her customers. It will be quite awhile before we will be visiting Primal...

We’ve been coming here almost every Wednesday since we moved to belmont in the beginning of the year for the music bingo. We’ve always had a great time hanging out there. Truthfully, the foods okay and the beer selection is limited, but it never mattered to us. Until last night. They were busy, sure, but the bartender (Tucker) was just a complete a** that night. First off, it took a looong time to get our drinks. Second, I thought i won a bingo, and he said I didn’t (it happens, I got a song mixed up) but I had kindly asked him if he was mistaken on a different song he denied because I was sure I heard it (and I Shazammed it). Boy was that the wrong thing to ask, he was already in a raging mood and that seemed to set him off more. One of the waitresses backed me up and said it definitely played, so she tried to help him scroll through the iPad to check. He proceeded to rip the iPad out of her hand and yelled that he already looked and it didn’t play, in front of me and a few customers at the bar. I walked away. I felt bad for all the servers because they were trying so hard to help and accommodate their customers, but he wasn’t having it. Just an embarrassing display for a person. At the end of the day, we want to come back to primal, it’s comfort, but we will be scouting to see if that bartender is working, because if he is, we will be leaving without hesitation.

PS - if I could duel rate, I would give 5 stars to our amazing server Nicole who always takes good care of us, and the nice blonde waitress (sorry I can’t remember her name) who backed me up AND found the song I was talking about, giving me a winning chip for that round of bingo towards the end of the night. They really are the...

I don’t like leaving negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share our recent experience in hopes it helps others and encourages improvement.

If you’re coming to Primal just to hang out and drink, you’re in the clear. The atmosphere is good, and the outdoor patio is nice. Trivia was fun, and we’ve always enjoyed the vibe here.

Unfortunately, the new food vendor is not on par with the previous kitchen. We’ve dined here many times in the past and always enjoyed the food, especially the pulled pork sliders, smash burger, and salads. But what we had last night was shockingly bad, so much so that we ended up leaving and eating at a different restaurant afterward.

Everything tasted like it had been microwaved or left sitting out. The chicken texture was strange, not like real chicken breast. The mac and cheese was cold, and the chips (the only edible thing we had) tasted either stale or overcooked. We came with another couple, and they also found the food to be very bad.

As a side note, I noticed a review posted 14 hours ago mentioning tacos, but there are no tacos on the menu. That makes me question whether it was posted in error or is a fake review.

I say all this not to be harsh, but because I’ve always liked this place and hate to see it decline. The food was previously a strength, and I hope the management seriously considers this feedback. We won’t be back unless the food improves, but we’re rooting for you to...
