TL;DR: Perhaps I was just unlucky, but all the pastries I had were incredibly dry; like they had been sitting out for multiple days already and were mostly flavorless to boot. I took only ended up taking a single bit out of each pastry I purchased and tossed the rest because they were so bad. Really disappointing... at the very least avoid going here on a Sunday,
Experience: Was in the area for vacation and had a serious urge for doughnuts and pastries before my very long drive home; saw the reviews for Jerry's Bakery and got excited to satiate my sweet tooth. Boy was I in for disappointment.
Atmosphere/Storefront: As you walk in you are surrounded by pastries of all kinds. Great selection, definitely something they have going for them. The bakery is self-serve so you grab a tray and some tongs and start grabbing what you want, but here in is the first challenge: knowing what your picking. There are NO labels on anything! No prices, no names of pastries or what fillings they may or may not have so if you aren't super familiar with all pastry types, you'll be doing some guessing.
Food: I bought 6 different types of pastries to keep the drive home interesting and paid about $10 for all of it; not cheap, but perfectly reasonable for what was expecting to be some great pastries. Every single pastry was the worst version of that pastry I've ever had. None of them were particularly flavorful, and all of them (except the Churro) were so dry they crumbled when I tried to eat them, and the Churro was squishy and flavorless. Just an entire waste of money.
Service: The woman at the checkout counter was perfectly pleasant, but being that this is a self-serve bakery, she was also the only experience with service so there's not much to talk about.
Overall if I'm ever back in the area again, I'll know to avoid...
Read moreTasty pastries and moist tres leches cakes make this Mexican bakery one of my all-time favorites!! As a bonus, they are so reasonably priced that the average item is under $1! They have a variety of pastries, many filled with fruits like pineapple, that make for a great, quick breakfast or mid-day treat. They also offer donuts, croissants, and various rolls/breads. All that being said, their tres leches cakes are so good & moist with the fresh strawberry filling being my favorite! They also offer a variety of other fruit fillings including mixed fruit options. They have great hours but the selection can become thin so it’s best to arrive early while the baked goods are fresh out of the oven. I’ve always experienced friendly customer service here, plus they are generally very accommodating. I only found that a couple of our cake orders were not made with the exact filling or design discussed, but other than that I highly...
Read moreThis bakery has got to be the epitome of gross restaurant codes. Pastries being left out in the main lobby on large racks with 5 or 6 trays to each rack filled with pastries with no cover or case. Just pick up a pair of tongs and serve yourself and have them picked up by the register attendant than used the same glove twice to handle different customers pastries. So I walk out with 3 pastries and did try 1 of them and it left an awful thick greasy film in my mouth. They all went to the garbage and I will not make the mistake of going in...
