I'm a 60-year-old disabled veteran and have been eating the food from Derby Grille for about 7 years. I feel bad about leaving this review because all the times I came in, Kelly treated me very very well and never brought me anything to eat that wasn't great. For the past 2 years, I've been homebound and have had my son pick up my "beer batter", had dipped fish and chips. He gets the hamburger. I'm not sure if it's just the fact he gets the food to go, or what, but my goodness has this particular food gone WAY downhill in quality and taste. Where once upon a time the fish actually looked hand-dipped and was cooked to a golden color and the fries were the same, cooked perfectly. Of the last 5 times my son came home with our food, it was barely edible. 4 of the past 5 times, there's no way in heck the fish was hand dipped, beer batter cod. Very flat, mechanical coating similar to Sysco, absolutely overcooked and dark DARK brown and extremely fishy. The fries, the same way, brown, cooked to death, and what looked to be the last handful in the bag. As for his burgers, he hates pickles, and every single time he gets home, the burgers have pickles and oddly, never have tomatoes anymore. Maybe it's that Kelly ensured a quality control that isn't there anymore or whatever but despite all of the great reviews left recently, this has not been OUR experience, and it's a shame because Derby used to have the best hand-dipped cod in the area here. Yesterday's order will sadly be our last meal from...
Read moreThe reviews were AMAZING, so we thought we would give it a try. Not only were we not greeted for nearly 15 minutes in a building with 3 other customers, we asked for my daughter’s drink 4 different times, none of our orders were correct EXCEPT one (breakfast burrito, the easiest order of all.) asked for pancakes & sausage, got French toast instead. My friend ordered a meal with a side of French toast & instead was given a French toast meal with the eggs that were supposed to be on her original plate & the eggs on her original plate were over easy when she ordered scrambled. The whole time we were trying to eat, the bartender/waitress kept coming over & interrupting our meal to try to get my daughter to tell her name. & at one point she picked my child up from our booth & walked off with her. I was absolutely stunned to say the least. This was such a terrible experience & that’s coming from someone who is pretty laid back when it comes to service. I didn’t expect top tier at a bar & grill but I also didn’t expect less than the...
Read moreI have been a customer for about 10 y. I am a widower so i eat around 15 to 20 times per week in restaurants. I spend about $800 a month at the Derby. I tip around 50% (it's my way of paying forward. For the blessings in my life) so add another $400 to that. I meat biker friends from all over there. I have introduced dozens of bikers to the derby. Maybe even a hundred or so over the past decade. I understand that New ownership often means new changes. Now to my point. When you fired Kelly. The reason I initially started frequenting the Derby. Always with a greeting and a smile, Knows her customers names, etc. I do not have a vote in what happens at the Derby. Other then voting with my dollars. I am sorry Corry, Jason, Dallas, Lisa. I'll really will miss you all. But as I said. My dollars are the only say I have. In closing. Firing Kelly. Was only a good business decision. For the burnout grill...
