Beach Break & Bakrie — Restaurant in Bethany Beach

I just left the Beach Break & Bakrie with my parents. It’s 10:54am on Saturday, July 1st. I have never in my life experienced such horrible and disrespectful service. There were a group of people waiting in the restaurant for a new pot of coffee to finish brewing and the girl with the blonde pulled back hair gave such a snarling attitude to everyone that some people left without coffee and some people left with decaf because they didn’t want to be “in her way” anymore. My parents had forgotten if they ordered a medium or large coffee and when they asked her to reconfirm, you would have thought they were asking this girl to run a marathon. She threw up her hands and reluctantly looked through the receipts. We didn’t want to cause any more “trouble” so just took a small cup to end the clearly traumatic experience. When people were asking about getting an iced coffee (which is on the menu), she rolled her eyes and said “well obviously the coffee is hot first”. We just arrived in Bethany Beach and this completely ruined our first experience. The only silver lining that is we made friends with about 5 strangers who were also in shock at this girls’ behavior. I placed my order with little to no line in front of me and ended up waiting for about 40 minutes to get 2 bagel sandwiches to go. I stood there and watched as the teenagers running the place ignored me the whole time so I finally asked if one of them could check on my order as I was waiting a really long time already. They then said my order would be next, but then I watched about 5 more orders go out until I finally got mine. I would recommend having some kind of manager or supervisor in the shop to better manage things like this, as I definitely will not be back or recommend this spot to anyone because of the poor customer service. I would also add that it was super disappointing to see them using plastic bags and plastic carryout cartons for the baked goods. In this day and age that is just ridiculous and had I known that I also would have thought twice about even stepping in the door. I visited this place while in Bethany. I'd like to politely invite this place to require more training in customer service. While the food was fantastic, customer service was terrible . I don't ask for much. But the following needs to be addressed as I will not be returning. 1. The front counter was unprofessional. Their demeanor was unfriendly. And very clumsy. Wear gloves ladies. Correct me if im wrong, but this girl had one thing to do for me. Ring up a sandwich and a muffin. How she could have missed her error is beyond me. But the sale continued UNTIL i questionned her. Im frankly quite disappointed . I had been charged $28 for a muffin &wrap. She would not re do the transaction. She insisted I take cash back. And dismissed me. Not OK!!! Learn how to treat...
