First of all, I do not blame the kids working behind the counter. They were polite and really tried to do their best to fulfill my order.
My boyfriend and I went to try this newer place in town and since it’s open later than some of the other ice cream shops nearby. I have dietary restrictions, and I try to avoid gluten and dairy. I noticed they had signage about gluten-free and dairy-free options on both their menu and the walls, which made me think this would be a good fit.
When we got there, I asked about vegan flavors, I was told they only had onez… vanilla. Ok, no biggie, I can doctor that up with some toppings. I also asked about gluten-free waffle cones, but they said no, they only have gluten-free bubble waffles. Since bubble waffles seemed to be their specialty, I decided to try it.
My boyfriend ordered a milkshake and received his in about five minutes. My order, on the other hand, took about 35 minutes. The staff explained that the gluten-free waffles have to be made from scratch and that they were having some trouble with the batter sticking to the waffle maker. They had to try making it two or three times, and I was close to just asking for the ice cream by itself for everyone’s peace of mind.
But then the order finally came out, it wasn’t the bubble waffle that was mentioned but a regular Belgian-style waffle. It looked nice, and since I was tired of waiting, I accepted it. On the way home, though, I noticed while eating it in the car that the center was almost completely raw. I stopped eating it, but I still ended up with a stomach ache that carried into the morning.
Again, I truly don’t fault the staff, they tried to make it right, but I don’t think the business should be advertising gluten-free options so prominently, with a decal on the wall that says “Gluten-free? we got you!”, if it’s that difficult for both the employees and customers to actually get what’s promised, especially when the...

Read moreOur trip to Wondaffel was underwhelming to say the least. Seems like they have potential to wow their customers but unfortunately that was not our experience. I wanted to create my own Leige Waffle that includes three toppings. They were going to charge me an extra dollar for strawberries and an extra dollar for Nutella. So that was a bit confusing because the price was posted on their menu for around $10. I decided not to pay extra for toppings that were included in creating your own and just opted for their Leige berry waffle, which included a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a waffle, strawberries, blue berries and raspberry syrup. My waffle was hard and cold with barely any syrup. Ice cream was good. My boyfriend order a fruity pebbles milk skate that came 100% watery, no milkshake consistency at all and was just topped with a tiny scoop of fruity pebbles on top instead of being mixed in. He was also charged an extra dollar to add fruity pebbles and instead he got a watery, vanilla milkshake with barely any fruity pebbles on top. I love Batch Creamery but some adjustment definitely need to be made here...
