This was the most disgusting restaurant we have ever been to. We went in, and ordered a teriyaki chicken salad. When it came out it was what looked like a ground chicken, like maggot size chicken ground meat. My first bite was a bite of rubber. It was like they took the end or discarded pieces of the chicken and ground it up and stir fried it with about a tablespoon of teriyaki sauce on it. My second bite had a piece of gristle on it. And that was just about enough of this meal that I could handle. I then imagined the meat grinder filled with bacteria on their ground meat. And then I had to stop. When my husband went up to the counter and asked where the chicken was, the lady at the counter said "that is it, that is the chicken." My husband then said "when I get a teriyaki chicken salad, I expect pieces of chicken not this!" Then the manager came out and asked about our meal. My husband explained to him, that he was expecting chicken pieces, cut up, not a ground meat and the taste and texture was pretty disgusting. The manager said "We get hundreds of people in here every week, wanting this salad, and we have some regulars that order it all the time." And he turned his back and started to walk away. He did not even take a moment to say "Would you like us to make you something different" or "Would you like your money back?" I just was very unhappy about the way he handled things, and so I stated to him "I am happy that your other customers are happy, but I am not happy with this food and I am certainly not going to eat it. It is disgusting!" And we left. This was the most unfortunate chain of events that a grill could make. Make lousy food, treat your customers lousy, makes lousy referrals. So, so unfortunate.
When we left the restaurant, about 8 hours later, my wife and I both had food poisoning...
Read moreIf you live in Billings, and haven't eaten here, you live a sad neglected life. I arrived at The Ox for the first time on a winter's day over a year ago. I wanted to impress the girl I was dating at the time, and it seemed like a pretty "hip" place. I ordered a Mount Saint Helens sandwich, and when it arrived I was more confused then dyslexic during the final round of the World Scrabble Championship. The vertically standing cylinder that was placed in front of me was not a sandwich. A sandwich is two slices of bread with meat and veggies in between them. "How do I eat this very non sandwich like creation?" I asked myself. I worry that my date will think that I'm not very hip if I don't figure out the conundrum of the vertical food cylinder sitting mockingly in a little bowl on the cafe table. I venture forth, taking a large bite from the cylinder's apex, and am delighted and amazed that, not only does this vertical food cylinder taste like a sandwich, it tastes like I have only dreamed a sandwich could taste. My date all but forgotten, I plunged mouth first into the sandwich that made all others seem like so much refuse by comparison. As I get to the towards the bottom of the most uniquely delicious sandwich in my life, I feel a sense of loss, for I have reached as high as a sandwich could ever take me. Then the ecstasy of the last two bites arrives. How erred was my way of thinking, believing that what was on the inside that really counts? What is on the outside makes all the difference! I immediately dumped my date and asked the most beautiful girl I knew out. She said no, but the life lesson The Ox taught me is one I'll...
Read moreNo STARS FOR SERVICE! Not only did we come in super excited to try out a new restaurant, but the new exciting sandwiches and how they are prepared looked and tasted AMAZING! I am NOT one to leave a bad or negative review unless I absolutely feel it necessary. Kelly was working who also claims to be the owner. I was super excited and asking about menu items, she lacked interest, seemed completely annoyed and never really offered anything “extra” as far as why I was asked for a 20% tip when I ended up ordering myself after having to ask a customer for guidance on the menu, since Kelly was “so busy” with us 2 new customers and the last two leaving. The place was empty. After enjoying our lunch, I tried asking more about the menu. Kelly, with little to no enthusiasm and more annoyance declined to give much information. I decided Kelly just must be having a day. After finishing up lunch, I mentioned what I did for work and noticed a piece of equipment mentioned she mentioned she was very unhappy with. I decided to proceed to leave my business card and told her I understood she was busy and I would just leave my info for future reference. Kelly then proceeded to raise her voice and then asked us to leave as we were on our way out, after paying over $30 for our lunch, and then asked to not come back. Rest assured after your terrible attitude through MY entire Lunch experience I WILL not be back. I hope you have a better day and maybe you can find someone else that comes along your way just trying to help a BAD ATTITUDE, and a BAD...
