Fuji Sushi House — Restaurant in Biloxi

Proof that 4.5 Star yelp reviews in some cities are very very different than others, this is not 4 or 5 star sushi. It is 2 star sushi and I rate the place 3 stars because the staff was great and ambience not too bad. I’ve had some fantastic sushi/sashimi in my life and this entire food experience was disappointing. I tried - I really did. Tried more than one bite. But really had some issues….

The eel roll (I felt compelled to order at least 1 roll) - well where is the eel? They deliver the flavor through a thick, I nuanced sauce - not through actual eel.

I ordered the 24 piece sashimi sampler and this is where the wheels went off - first, the weird salad.. ginger and mayo? That’s what it tasted like. Looked worse. Horrible. The soup? Tepid tap water with some tofu tossed in? Couldn’t stomach it. Then, the sashimi…

The sashimi platter looked good when it was dropped off, but the quality of fish was a disaster across the board. Salmon tasted tired and cheap and was covered with cabbage - why cabbage? Salmon should stand up by itself so confused. The tunas were all bad - some had no real taste like low quality cuts frozen for way too long. Others, the main star in the back, were covered with some weird spice chutney to cover up the taste - always a bad sign.

Quality sushi shouldn’t be masked. It should have a good texture and taste on it’s own. I could not finish my meal at all and I’ve eaten crazy amounts in one sitting in the past. If you are a casual fan of sushi (and I realize most people don’t know the difference), then ignore me and go have fun. I WOULDN’T EVEN GIVE THEM 1 Star…HORRIBLE SERVICE!! Myself & 6 other coworkers ordered takeout for a birthday. We picked up the food & got back to work realizing something was missing because there wasn’t enough boxes for everyone. We called & explained we were missing an order. Lady on phone was nasty & rude stating she packaged the food herself & she knew it was there so they would NOT replace. I told her that she was mistaken because I did not get my food. After me telling what I had, she went on to say she placed my roll in the box with someone else’s food & that I needed to go and get it from my coworker! I explained to her how nasty that was & that it was her mistake. She insisted I was wrong & should have specified that I wanted my food “separately” when placing the order!! Didn’t think you had to specify each separate item/order should be placed in separate boxes. She continued to argue with me then I asked for a manager. She said she was the manager. Then I told her I couldn’t believe they allowed her to work there with such poor customer service & horrible attitude. She then went on to tell me she was the OWNER of the restaurant. First off the service isn't great. I have been wanting to try for over a year and finally did only to be very disappointed. My children were complaining about the vegetables not tasting right so I tried it and it made me sick to my stomach. I was asked by the cashier did I enjoy the food I was honest and told her I have never been unpleasant with of their type of food until now. She went on to say it's not Vietnamese or Korean food, I was very puzzled then. Overall this cannot be a 4 1/2 star restaurant because someone is lying especially after checking the reviews 😒. There was no season whatsoever applied to either dish and their portions are not filling. They literally cooked one order of food and split it into two plates I swear I had to tell them can my child actually get more that 20 noodles in her lo mein dish that was only vegetables. My tab was $98 before they added gratuity and $124 after yes had had the nerve to charge me $18 gratuity for only coming to my table twice to bring our drinks and our food. Not once did our server ask if everything was OK or if we needed anything 🤔. My children said they never want to eat...
