We were in the area and read the positive reviews for Birch Run Deli so we were looking forward to giving it a try. However, we were very disappointed. Here’s my honest review… We ordered 3 sandwiches. The corned beef and Swiss, the Borough Bridge, and the daily special combo ( Deli Deli sub) on 6 inch, it came with soup and a drink. Total was $48.23, I did tip. Only one guy was working both taking orders and making food, and he seemed new, which is the only way to describe it. We requested all sandwiches to be cold. The deli deli and the borough bridge both came with warmed meat but cold bread, which was strange and made them soggy and unappetizing. Why grill the meat when we asked for cold subs? The corned beef was ok but riddled with fat. It could’ve been trimmed significantly. Neither of the other sandwiches came with a drink or side, so for a price point of $40+ (I thought that was quite high) for 3 sandwiches, I was expecting superb quality, true New York style sandwiches which is what they advertise as. This was NOT it!!! Previous review says they are under new management so perhaps that’s why it wasn’t as good, but there were also only two other people in there when we ordered. If we hadn’t gotten our food to go I would’ve returned the sandwiches and asked for a refund. If they want to make it right, I will take down my review, otherwise I think others should be aware and spend their money elsewhere.

Was great to talk to Rosy and Mahesh! I'm not usually big on deli food unless I'm in a very specific mood for it, and I was very happy with my surprise visit here. I was pleased with the Brooklyn pastrami sandwich: it had a solid portion of meat, not too much sauce, and getting it grilled was the perfect touch for some texture. As others have noted, the overall size is a bit smaller than is available at taverns and sports bars in the area, but I felt that this sandwich was of better quality. The salad was good as well. Nothing to shake a stick at, just a normal, inoffensive offering. It never hurts to have some roughage. I plan to try the chili on my next visit, and I heard something about gumbo that has piqued my curiosity. In talking with the staff, it seems that this restaurant has been open on and off since COVID times, and the current opening is relatively recent (only being a few months at this point). I look forward to seeing what improvements they make going forward, and I will be around to do my part to support whenever I'm in the area.

An average of 4.9 stars tells me that the people who frequent this sandwich shop haven't been to many deli's outside of this town. Let me begin by saying that I take price, quantity, and quality into consideration when rating an establishment. They weren't "bad" sandwiches, but they were nothing special, and when taking price into consideration, they definitely fell short. We bought a Philly, full size, a Rueben (reg. size) and a small Sicilian. No sides, no drinks, $41.59. Very small and narrow, hot dog size buns for the subs. Maybe 3oz of meat. Cheap white "texas toast" bread for the sandwich. I was not impressed at all. The pictures posted to Google do not resemble anything we got. My thumb is in the Rueben pic, so you can see how tiny the sandwich is. There are so many better options available. Not to mention, the inside lobby (dining area) was dirty. We will not be returning.

On our trip to Frankenmuth today we stopped and ate at Birch Run Deli because of the reviews. We live in Florida and we had family with us from the Detroit and Cadillac. Living in Florida between Orlando and Tampa my family has eaten at our fair share of great restaurants. And I am hear to say this place had the best soup and sandwiches I have ever eaten and the rest of the family agreed. The beef and vegetable soup actually had more beef than vegetables and my daughter said the cream of chicken was the best soup she has ever eaten. The owner was there making the food and serving it and could not have been more nicer. He let us bring in my little dog and served him some water because he didn't want us eating in the parking lot. My son is the pickiest eater that ever lived and I asked if he could make him a grilled cheese sandwich because that is all he eats. He not only made him a grilled cheese but my son said that it was the best grilled cheese he ever had and gave him a big hug and said he wanted to come back. My son is not only a picky eater but he is also pretty shy. But that just goes to show what a great guy the owner was. If I hard as way I would definitely have him come all the way to Florida to make me sandwiches on a regular basis. What a gem you have in the Birch Run area!!! Be good too him, you wouldn't want to lose him and his food!!!! Will definitely be back next time I am in Michigan even if I have to drive out...

I have been to the deli a couple times and tbh I haven't been a fan but I just went the yesterday and let me tell you what it has NEVER been better the food was amazing I had a chicken bacon ranch sub that the new cook CharLee hand made for me by request it wasn't even on the menu but she didn't fuss instead she made me the best one I've had I will most certainly be going back for more of CharLees cuisine tenfold the food has become better then most any other places in birch run and for the price it's phenomenal I'm glad I decided to go back and give it another try because a few months ago I wouldnt have recommended it. Not to mention the establishment from what I could see was much more sanitary and better smelling then I last remembered and I'm sure that's thanks to Charlee as well because if she wasn't preparing someone's food or showing her pretty smile and beautiful energy towards a customer as they walk in or out the door she was cleaning scrubbing sweeping and keeping the establishment in tip top shape Thank you CharLee for giving my home town something new and enjoyable 😃 highly recommend you try...
