AHKI’S — Restaurant in Birmingham

Man.. this is one of the saddest spots I’ve been to in a long time, I really need to move out of this city. They got the mayor on IG eating the food looking like he’s about to throw up lmao. They only serve bowls after 7 or something and I should have turned back when I found that out. The meat and rice was cold and the “secret white sauce” had no flavor, only a heavy garlic breath aftertaste. I spent almost $30 on 2 small size bowls and I completely regret it. The girl working was really nice and I feel bad for her and anybody else working here, because they have to explain to every customer that the menu is different than what’s advertised. This is my first time ever even leaving a negative food review on the internet and I’m not proud of it but wow. I got finessed, I don’t know how this is open with places like Makarios, Falafel Cafe, even purple onion already existing. Yall should definitely turn that building into something else. Today, I came here for lunch based off watching a tiktok video and besides, I wanted something different to eat for lunch. When, I first walked through the door the lady worker didn't say anything to me. She looked annoyed that I was standing there. I didn't allow this to bother me so, as I was looking over the menu it look her awhile to ask me with a annoyed tone if, she can help me. I was the only customer in the restaurant so, I was looking like why the attitude. My first of many visits! I really wanted a taste of home today and that's kinda hard to find here (Chicago). I got exactly what I had in mind. It's just something about a deli that does it for me that a lot of commercial places cannot!!! I'm a transit bus driver and the wonderful woman acknowledged it immediately as to expedite my order.
