Came in hungry. Sunday dusk, the kind that makes a man believe in miracles or margaritas. Sat at the bar. Nobody saw me. Fifteen minutes passed like a slow bleed. Got a water but no menu. Borrowed one from a nearby couple like a castaway begging for flares.
Ordered a margarita and three tacos—two asada, one suadero—because hope dies last. What came out looked like regret folded in a tortilla. Dry. Naked. No lime. No onion. No salsa. Just meat and memory.
Tried to wave someone down, but I was a ghost in that place. The couple next to me had the same issue. They flagged a server who told them, without shame, that the salsa lived across the restaurant—like it was a sacred secret passed down by word of mouth.
Fifty dollars later, I was full of disappointment and tequila. Walked across the street to finish dinner properly. Still, I might come back. God help me, I might. Because the tacos weren’t bad—just lonely. And maybe next time I’ll...
Read moreI’ll start off by saying I’m a very particular and picky person 🤣 ❤️. As much as I love Birmingham, I have yet to find a restaurant/place that I actually like here when compared to the other cities I’ve been to. But this is the ONE. The drink service was fast and good y’all, it actually tasted as it was supposed to and not like some cheap variation. The food was spectacular. Their green salsa (and others) was actually thick and good, not the watered down version of things you get at other places. The food was PERFECTLY seasoned, not too strong and not too light! I had seen a review where someone mentioned it needed salt and respectfully- this isn’t a fast food place where it’ll blow your sodium intake over the roof and call it flavor. It’s balanced and tasty with REAL flavor as good food should be. 10/10 recommend- better than any place I’ve had in Birmingham AND Nashville ❤️. Keep up the good work, Birmingham desperately needed a...
Read moreVery cool looking restaurant and convent and the service was nice enough however the food was not good.
I had the California Burrito which was something I always wanted to try but it was very unseasoned. To the point where I could not detect if simple salt and pepper was used. And I’m not even a person that is used to or enjoy heavy seasoning. This was simply bland, and it was also soggy for some reason. There was no cohesion or uniformity of ingredients, the guacamole was browned and again did not have any detectable salt, cilantro, or lime to bring it together, and I never seen a medium rare brisket. I’m not trying to be a hater, I’m just trying to find good food and this place was recommended. But I promised at least this item tasted like wet paper wrapped a untoasted burrito shell. Maybe I should have gotten tacos at least that may have come with a lime or some kind of sauce to enhance the...
