I've been to this coffee shop three times in total. The first time was when the previous owner was still running it. The last two visits were under the new ownership — and I have to say, the new owner has made some major improvements, all in the right direction.
There are lots of new items on the menu now. Some of the furniture has been updated, and the overall vibe feels much warmer and more inviting. It has that cozy, charming Swedish touch now — modern yet homey at the same time.
The quality of the coffee is excellent. The food is thoughtfully selected, and you can tell they’re using high-quality ingredients. I was especially impressed with the latte I had — it was made by the owner personally, and it was rich, smooth, and delicious. You can taste the care and quality.
Also, it’s privately owned — not a big corporate chain — which gives it so much more character and authenticity. It truly fits Birmingham well.
That said, while reading other reviews, I came across a 1-star rating that I found really unfair. Someone didn’t like the cheesecake and gave the entire shop 1 star based on just that. Taste in desserts is subjective — plus, cheesecake isn’t even their specialty. The menu has so much more to offer.
More importantly, a café experience isn’t just about one dessert. There’s the coffee, the food, the service, the ambiance — and this place excels in all of those areas. Judging an entire business based on one item feels extremely unjust.
Honestly, platforms like Google should consider ways to filter out overly harsh or disproportionate reviews. Small, independent businesses like this deserve better protection from that...
Read moreI rarely write reviews as I rarely have the time. Today was the first time I ever walked in the door. I was greeted and served by a very friendly and engaging lady name Alexandra. It was evident that she enjoys what she does and most importantly engaging customers. She was really informative and knew the products well. I also really appreciated being offered a sample. I'm one who always wants to try something knew but don't enjoy walking away after spending a premium price only to learn I did not like my selection. As a business there is a cost to providing samples in respect to both the supply cost and the time to make it however I am confident that there is a positive ROI as it demonstrates that the business truly wants to create a positive consumer experience and it gives the staff that much more time to engage the consumer so long as the consumer has the time.
Overall I enjoyed my experience and hope to have the...
Read moreThe girls are very nice and the senior lady that was working today very nice too. But the other lady that was working with the senior lady is very rude and very unclean (for not staying something else)!! Once she prepared a sandwich for me and it come with hairs on it, and after biting I noticed kind of sand on it. Probably she didn't clean the lettuce. Since then I didn't go there for some time. Today unfortunately she was there again... very rude, the cup of coffee cracked and not that clean, and she took the napkins from my hand saying that she already gave them to us, while we didn't have any. How could we have napkins without having food first?! But this time I didn't order anything to prepare. Just a baked good, which didn't need any preparation as I was scared of her dirtyness ... If it wasn't for her, I'd give 5* for the other people there, nice food and very good...
