*5/2/24 Update - I ended up receiving an e-mail after updating my review, saying I never heard from them after sending an e-mail. I was given the name and phone number of the owner. I don't really care to call so they can offer me the opportunity to give them another try. I disliked an item, that's it. A review is a review and I am just making the public aware of what they will be getting if they choose the same item I did, so their expectations aren't let down like mine was.
My first visit was nice. It's a cute little bakery/café to sit and have yummy pastries and coffee with friends. What I am not a fan of is not having prices on ANY of the pastries. Customers don't know how much they are paying for ANYTHING. So once you get to the registers, you get sticker shock because you just have no idea how much anything costs. There is only one cake in the showcase that has a price, nothing else. Now my first time I chose a croissant that looked to have been dipped in dark chocolate and it was described to have chocolate filling. Perfect, it was delicious and was exactly what the description said! Delicious and had a nice amount of chocolate cream inside. This second visit, I chose a different croissant that had chocolate drizzle on top and described to have dark chocolate filling inside. Well, my picture clearly shows you how much dark chocolate was inside. I was extremely disappointed. That "dark chocolate filling" is smaller than my pinky finger and I believe this cost $5 and some change, I can't remember. I just remember cutting into this and feeling so disappointed and cheated. A change in description needs to happen. I'm sure I'm not the only person that has bought this croissant and thought the same thing when I cut it open. Highly disappointed with that! I will eventually return but I doubt it will be as often as I'd like. And I will no longer be choosing this item...
Read moreThe Good: They have a cute, clean shop, friendly workers, adorable packaging, the space is very aesthetically pleasing, and everything we got tasted good. I also love that they list the calorie count and price next to each item, they have a stack of clean trays and tongs (like other Asian French Bakeries in the area) with parchment sheets for you to use as you choose your pastry/bread items. The whole cakes/cake slices/drinks are behind the main counter when you go up to pay.
The Bad: The price/calorie tag doesn't list allergens on it. The Birmingham location of the bakery means you're going to spend more time finding/potentially paying for parking than in the bakery, the store itself is cute but VERY small, and they have a well known rep for selling out quickly. I was shocked to find the mochi donuts there after 9AM because I've had several friends try and fail to get these. Which brings me to the prices; the pastries are pretty reasonably priced, but the Mochi Donuts were too $$$ for me ($3.59/each) and I cringed when asking the clerk for a slice of the Rainbow cake ($6.49), but since a whole Rainbow Cake is $42.79 I sucked it up.
The Verdict: The tiny space, higher prices, and difficult to get to location make this place simply not worth a second visit for me, and I definitely wouldn't suggest it to friends to meetup together for coffee. I could see where it would be lovely for locals who can walk there but if you're driving in be prepared for frustration. There are several other mom & pop Asian Fusion Bakeries in the Novi Area that have the same pastries with cheaper prices, so I'll be saving myself the bham headache (and some money) with continuing to...
Read moreExceptional Experience at Paris Baguette!
I recently had the pleasure of ordering from Paris Baguette, and I can't recommend this local pastry shop highly enough. The outstanding customer service and delectable pastries truly set it apart.
First and foremost, the owner of Paris Baguette went above and beyond to make my experience memorable. I had a newborn at home and couldn't step out to pick up a birthday cake. Despite not offering delivery services where I live, they made an exception and personally delivered the cake to my doorstep. This level of dedication to customer satisfaction is truly exceptional.
Now, let's talk about the cakes. The Blueberry Chiffon cake I ordered was nothing short of amazing. It was moist, bursting with flavor, and beautifully presented. The perfect balance of sweetness and tartness in the blueberries made it an absolute delight. It's a must-try!
But it doesn't stop there. I've also tried several other cakes from Paris Baguette, and they have all been equally fantastic. From their Red Velvet Soft Cream cake to the delicate Chocolate Cake, each one is a slice of heaven.
In conclusion, Paris Baguette is not just a pastry shop; it's an experience “delicious pastries, warm breads, stunning cakes and expertly brewed drinks.” The exceptional service, personalized care, and the mouthwatering cakes make it a top choice for anyone with a sweet tooth. I wholeheartedly recommend Paris Baguette to all pastry enthusiasts and cake lovers in the area. You won't be...
