With Longhorn being a new restaurant I wanted to check it out to see how it compares to all the others. I ended up going at 11 am so there was no rush, walking up there was an employee coming into work, who opened the door for me and my girlfriend, That was really thoughtful. Being early it was not busy at all thankfully, we were seated quickly, unfortunately next to the kitchen so the servers kept walking in and out. I was confused as to why we were seated there since there were only 3 other parties in the place. Looking around the atmosphere was confusing they had some pictures of horses, hanging chandlers and a fireplace at one end that I noticed was not on (it took up a Ton of space), I really wished it was as it was fairly cold in there. I couldn't decide what theme was supposed to be? Was it supposed to be a Olive gardenish (it had wine bottles hanging, plus some of the pictures were not really country themed) with a country setting. Music overhead was all different sorts so that didn't help set the vibe. Getting the menu, really who ever designed this menu probably never ate at a restaurant. It was a long two sided sheet, seemed to have no organization. Filled with food choices all words pretty much same size and font, with no pictures. I probably flipped it over twenty times trying to set my eyes for something to eat (It really was bad). As the server came the second time I just decided on ribs. Bringing this bread out next was really awkward it was on a small cutting board, it was hard to hold while cutting it with a steak knife, yes they had me cut it with a steak knife(was only half cut). Looking over I saw other people struggle to also cut and butter their bread with a steak knife. Having only one piece I pushed it to the side, the bread was good though. Lighting in the place was adiquite but would have been better if it was lower, there was a really bad shadowing it was annoying seeing a shadow as I was eating. Food arrived promptly which was nice, they gave me a rib towel something i'm not used to. I was just thinking to my self do they have a washer in the back to clean this or is this something they use to clean the tables with as well. Would have been better with a moist towelette, the ribs were very like zingy, tasted good fell of the bone easy, but the bones in them were huge so it didn't seem like a lot of meat (i was still hungry after, even with the potato I had as my side). Baked potato was my side it was baked enough but just really potatoey not enough butter and sour cream, fairly good size. Overall if your going for an experience I would stay away(Go to Texas Roadhouse). the prices are fair ( If the ribs filled me up for the 12.99 price I would have been happier) the ambiance is horrible its so confusing it doesn't seem to have its own theme. Service was great but I would like to see how they are...
Read moreI have personally been to this location over 100 times only had 4 bad experiences 3 with the steak and 2 with the mushrooms 3 times were one after another the management was always quick to solve the issues. The first time was steak i think the cook they had tried to pull a fast one and give me a lesser cut of meat since he well doned my med rare fillet but that was sorted out quickly and the whole family got free deserts and i got the right steak. The 2nd steak and 1st mushrooms happened a few months later they had a new cook in back because the main guy was out for something and the guy just couldn't get the steak right eventually the manager went back and made it himself and i to this day think it was the best steak i have ever had there the first time with the mushrooms happed the same day as the second steak the new guy didn't put any 4 cheese sauce on my mushrooms the manager asked if i'd like another order and i took it they came out the same and asked if i could get the sauce and the manager promptly said no problem and even took the mushrooms off my bill. The second order of mushrooms was the very next day i did not have to pay for those and the same manager brought me a new order made correctly right away along with some extra 4 cheese. the last steak was the following week over done but fixed right away the same as the others. I have since been there over 20 times more and not one issue other than menu changes but those have all been changed back. I suggest this steak house over and other in Bismarck because the steak is well seasoned, the service is spectacular, management WILL fix any issues and it's just overall better than Jacks or Roadhouse.
Food i suggest is Flows fillet med rare with parm crust loaded mashed potatoes, white cheddar baked stuffed mushrooms with extra 4 cheese (also good in the mash) and their french onion soup. If you're looking for a cheaper appetizer go with the spicy chicken bites they...
Read moreWhat an absolute terrible experience... both times... even though I have only physically eaten here once. The steak is not worth near the price. It was cooked alright but the quality of the meat was not very high. The waitress forgot both orders of sauteed mushrooms on the steak. I planned not to go back but I received a gift card and figured I would get it used up. We used their call ahead seating feature and we were told to show up in 45 minutes. After 40 minutes we get there but were told it would be an additional hour. I mentioned that we called ahead and were told 45 minutes but the hostess said that the time quoted over the phone isn't accurate. If it's not accurate why even have a call ahead seating system? I could understand an additional 10-15 minutes but not over an hour. The hostess was extremely rude about it which made the situation worse. After looking in the restaurant and seeing over 10 empty tables we decided to go somewhere else.
If you look at some of the other reviews I firmly believe that this restaurant shouldn't be rated 4 stars. One particular review below mentions that the food came before the salads were finished and that the waitress not only forgot about the appetizer but it came AFTER the meal. This review gives the restaurant a 5-star rating which is hopefully a mistake on the author's part. That is certainly not 5-star service. Other reviews seem to be family members toting a particular waiter/waitress and not a true 5-star review.
I can't imagine trying to go here again. Texas Roadhouse is a longer drive for me but the cut of meat is a much better value than this...
