We were searching for a bunch place. This is the spot! When walking in the door, I was worried. There was a long line. Just inside the door, I could already smell coffee and baked goods. Then I see IT... the bakery case packed with a colorful assortment of GIANT baked goods. There was 2 types croissants, both chocolate and original, danishes of different flavors, bear claws covered in almonds, strawberry pinwheels, giant chocolate chip cookies and more. I saw a colorful display of the menu on the wall behind the bakery case. All kinds of breakfast items plus a large variety of lunch biscuit items as well. My party of 3 ordered sausage gravy and a biscuit, shiitake gravy and a biscuit, plus a bacon, eggs and cheese biscuit, with 3 coffees and a strawberry pinwheel to share. The hostess informed us that she would go look to see if there was a table available. She came back in a couple minutes and let us know one was being wiped down. In a about a minute, she said we could sit at the only table available in the back of the room. She got 3 waters for us and placed them on the table and told us we could help ourselves to the coffee bar where regular and decaf coffee is available with a variety of sweeteners, cream, fresh spoons and decorative mugs of all sizes and colors to choose from. She let us know that there was a jam bar for after our order came. I would say the amount of time it took me to drink almost 2/3 of my standard size cup of coffee (10oz) our order arrived. I have never seen biscuits this big in a restaurant. The bacon was cooked perfectly with a generous amount of melted cheddar and eggs. The shiitake gravy was packed with mushrooms and had a great flavor. It would be a great alternative for vegetarians. My sausage gravy was delicious as well. TIP: since the biscuits are so large, split it in half and save half for the JAM BAR. The jam bar offered in house prepared jams plus apple butter. There was blueberry, strawberry, peach and raspberry to choose from. I would highly suggest trying this hidden gem. It seemed like a local spot. Don't be afraid...
Read moreSo good, I almost don't want to tell more people about it! Today was my 3rd visit and they've knocked it out of the park every single time.
What I (& dining companions) have tried: The Grey Beard, Mountain Mama, Seven Sisters, Biscuits w/Shitake Gravy, Cinnamon roll, dirty chai
Highlights: I've loved everything I've tried, but if I had to choose, Seven Sisters is my favorite, because you get to try a little of almost everything. The grit cakes are crispy on the outside and soft & chewy on the inside. My favorite is probably the grit cake with a fried green tomato & pimento cheese on top. The Grey Beard is ridiculously good too. I wasn't blown away by the shitake gravy, it didn't have a ton of flavor in my opinion, but that's subjective of course. Their chai is some of my favorite around, a good bit of spice, frothy with cinnamon on top.
Atmosphere/Service: As others have said, this place gets extremely busy on weekends...there is usually a line almost out the door. But don't let the line deter you, the staff keeps things moving & turns over tables very quickly, all while staying polite & helpful. The inside is cute and kitschy, there's art on the walls. They do have a patio with outside seating, although I've only dined and gotten food to go. I do wish there was more parking, but as this is located in a small shopping plaza, I'm sure BRBC doesn't have...
Read moreWe were looking for a Sunday spot for breakfast and Blue Ridge Biscuit Company came up on my search. The photos posted were enticing enough to make us want to check it out. When we got there around 9:45 there was a line out the door. Since we hadn't been there before, we didn't know their system, but it looked like counter service with food brought to the tables, from what we could see through the window. The line basically didn't move for about 15 minutes, but as people exited, it started flowing again. Once we realized they were controlling the flow of orders based on the tables available, the line made more sense. Anyways, on to the food. The biscuits were fresh, the sauces and gravys were excellent, and the waffle was fluffy and tasty. I had the smoky mountain Brook biscuit which had a smoked trout dip, dill cream cheese sauce, and tomato jam. You could taste the fish, but the flavor was not overpowering, and the dill sauce and tomato jam were perfect. My poached egg was soft and finished off the biscuit perfectly. My friend ordered the lookout biscuit, but got pimiento cheese instead of cheddar which was a great substitution. The service was friendly and efficient. I absolutely think that the food was worth the wait, although I'm hoping to try it on a weekday sometime when the line...
