I booked a guaranteed room for my wife and I both ages 35 & 36, the day before our booking date. We live nearby and wanted a night away from the teenagers. Everything went smoothly through the booking process I gave them all our information. The rate was a little high compared to neighboring hotels, but this one is brand new. So I expected them to be busy and high priced. What I didn't expect was a call I received from the hotel about a half hour after our check-in started. I was about 10 minutes drive from the hotel headed to check in, my wife at the hotel already waiting in the parking lot. The employee of the hotel told us, "Sorry your not allowed to stay here." I was initially shocked, and didn't know what to say. I asked, "Why am I not allowed to stay there?" and she said, "You live within a 50 Mile Radius." I said, "I gave you my address and information last night. Why wouldn't you have told me then?". I've stayed at the Marion Hampton Inn several times with no issues not even a bat of an eyelid at my address nearby. It's 20 minutes east of this Hampton Inn on I-40. That's where we ended up staying, here at the Marion, NC Hampton Inn. We ended up with a spacious studio room for 50 dollars less than the Black Mountain Hampton Inn standard size room. We were so looking forward to this hotel stay, away from the teenage children. It was such a let down, I felt violated and had a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. When I told my wife, she cried hysterically it really upset her. So this was absolutely the worst experience in my life, from any hotel chain I've ever stayed with. If they would have just told me this when I was giving the operator my address and credit card information. This could have been easily avoided. So just a warning to everyone else that lives anywhere nearby. They won't let you stay there, and they might not tell you till your checking in a the hotel. I could see if My wife and I were 20 somethings that may be an issue. But were not, we are simple middle aged, working adults with two teenage children. Two thumbs down for this hotel...
Read moreWe took a weekend trip to Black Mountain. As a couple, we pick a town, do the research and hit the road.
We called the chamber of commerce and when they told us there are over 30 restaurants- the decision was made!
We also decided on this hotel based on our prior outstanding experiences with the Hilton brand. Hampton Inn is a brand we trust!
Truthfully, we’re quite spoiled because we have stayed at some fine resorts. Upon first impression, this Hampton Inn presents itself like a boutique hotel. Ben, the manager, is always looking to hear customer feedback, and implement any changes that are suggested to improve. I was truly impressed by the way he manages the hotel and its people.
We have been into sustainability for over 25 years. We noticed near every elevator there happens to be a wastebasket with a recycle bin & the views from the large windows at the end of each floor are amazing!
Our room was also nicely appointed, clean and the bed was as comfortable as many of the 5 star luxury hotels I have had the privilege of visiting. And waking up to a view of the mountains was breathtaking! You are basically surrounded by mountains.
We highly recommend this hotel for its cleanliness and the service!
Spending a weekend exploring the town Black Mountain is also something we recommend!
Please note! This Hotel is also walking distance to town restaurants, bars & shopping—-major bonus!
Side note: There is a small indoor pool at this hotel. But we didn’t use it. This may come in handy for people that have children.
We did recommend night lights for the bathroom. It’s a bit dark when the television and all lights are off for those middle of the night bathroom trips.
Hope you enjoy the...
Read moreThe Hampton Inn Black Mountain is a wonderful hotel and a great place to call home base during your Asheville visit. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! The hotel looks relatively new, and the property is well managed and run. The staff was excellent - friendly and responsive! I enjoyed the breakfast buffet, gym, pool and patio - all amenities were in great shape and well maintained. My room was very spacious, well laid out, cool (great AC), super clean and quiet. The bathroom was spacious and modern. I was on the second floor and woke up to a beautiful view of the mountains. I was pleasantly surprised to find a white noise machine on my night stand which was great for sleeping. The hotel is in a great quiet location. Centrally located to do all of the Asheville stuff - hiking, waterfalls, city tours, etc. During my stay, I visited Asheville City, The Grove Park Inn, Sliding Rock, Black Balsam Knob, Looking Glass Falls, Catawba Falls and some other hikes. Black Mountain is great place that has a small town feel, and is a great way to avoid the crowds of Asheville city. Lots of shopping and great food options in walking distance. The weather was too nice to run on the treadmill, and I was glad there are some flat running trails and quiet streets to run on just outside the hotel. This hotel is just off the highway, but I did not hear the highway noise in the hotel, and only noticed it a little when I was sitting on the patio. To sum it up, this hotel is a great place to stay and is a great value! I am definitely...
