My family loves the drinks and treats at this place, but they have made it practically impossible to have a good customer service experience any time we go here. After our last 2 visits this week, we are done trying.
We waited in line over half an hour one morning this weekend until we eventually gave up and left with 2 people still in front of us in line. It was taking so long per customer, we had at least another half hour to go before we could get our coffees. As a barista, I understand that good coffee takes time, but that wait time for the amount of people in there was just ridiculous.
We tried again later that week, and there was no parking so I was let out on the side of the road to go in. When the car drove off I realized, I didn't have a mask. I asked the barista from the door if they had a mask, explaining the situation. The reply was a very unsympathetic "nope." I usually have my mask everywhere I go, but EVERY business I have been in since this mess has extra masks on hand for this kind of situation. So I waited outside, in the cold, until my ride could pull around to get me. Instead of getting my mask and trying again, I thought, why do I try to pay a place that consistently (as these are 2 of many bad experiences) makes me feel worse than when I came. So we went to Starbuck's. It's kind of crazy when a large chain make you feel more welcome than a local...
Read moreOn a recent fall day in the western part of North Carolina, I had my first opportunity to visit the town of Black Mountain. While enjoying a short stroll around this charming town, I happened upon the Dripolator Coffeehouse, located on State Street. Curiously, I noticed quite a few people walking into the Coffeehouse, so I decided to enter myself. The coffee shop is small, containing just a few small cocktail tables intermixed with casual seating. The coffee shop sells all your favorite coffee and tea drinks along with some light dessert offerings. I bought a regular coffee along with a slice of lemon poppy seed bread. The dessert was nothing exceptional and was just a tad too sweet for my own palate. What you will get here is an excellent cup of coffee. Reading their promotional material, I found their coffee beans are freshly sourced and roasted on a commercial Diedrich Coffee Roaster. All the production work is unimportant if the resulting end product is not exceptional. Thankfully, I obtained a notably smooth and well-balanced cup of coffee.
Should you have the opportunity to visit the town of Black Mountain, do take the opportunity to visit the Dripolator Coffeehouse. If you are an avid coffee drinker like myself, you will come away from here a happy and...
Read moreMy family and I were looking for random place to have a good coffee and a bite to eat before heading back home after a weekend in the Black Mountain.
When I first looked at this place from the outside and reading other reviews, I knew I was in for some really special coffee. What I was not expecting was how incredible the rest of the experience it was going to be.
Coffee & Food - truly as good as everyone raves about it! I had one of the best Butter Coffees I have ever had. As for the food, I only had an almond croissant, but if that's the standard they set for their food, then it's quite a high standard.
Staff - great and friendly, even in the midst of a crazy rush for breakfast! With just a couple of items missing from my order, for which I had to go back to the counter, having to cut through the river of people lining up to the cashier. They were very quick to apologize and to give me the missing items.
Atmosphere - trendy, but not over the top. A good combo of different generational decoration trends, which I don't know how, but worked very well together. No annoying background music. Also, very nice quality merch if you're into that type of thing.
Final verdict - A top 5 coffee shop on my list. Would I...
