I'm only giving two stars instead of one because I've eaten here many times since they opened and it's always been at least ok. Last night was the last time I'll be a customer.
Ordered to go over the phone around 6pm on a Friday. Yes they were very busy and it was rather noisy, but I repeated my order twice. Two spinach salads ($11 each), one veggie lasagna ($16) one pesto pasta ($12). The bill was $48 which sounded about right. I didn't get to eat until a couple of hours later, and found that I had the pasta, but I had only one salad, a house salad which had lettuce, some tomato, cucumber and onion. I called and explained. They argued with me about what I had ordered, saying they didn't hear me say two spinach salads. Then someone else got on the phone and told me I had an extra free salad and I didn't pay for the spinach salads. I asked for a breakdown and was told the "entree house" salad was $16 or $18, I don't remember which. The menu on their website says this salad is $11. (Also, I didn't order it.) They said I could come and have a free salad, but I said I wanted a refund for the food I paid for and didn't get (two spinach salads). They said they'd refund me for that but it might take a few days to show up in my account. I'll update if it doesn't.
I could excuse a mistake, especially on a busy Friday night. But the response I got when I called was not what I expected at all, and isn't acceptable. It was my fault according to them and I got something for free (??).
The pesto pasta wasn't nearly as good as last time. I hadn't had the veggie lasagna before and I was surprised and horrified to see it had artichoke, craisins and walnuts in it. Maybe someone likes that, but don't...
Read moreGo for the pizza but pass on the sandwiches.
I've been going here for almost 10 years. The pizza is always good but the sandwiches have never impressed me. Breaking my vow to never order another sandwich from there, I ordered a gyro, which I've never had from there. After it arrived, well after my buddy had received his pizza, I tore into it.
Dry. A mouthful of lettuce, tomato, onion and lamb in a fold of naan. Why? They left off the tzatziki sauce. No biggie, I'll just have them bring me some on the side and I'll pour it on myself.
I flag down our questionably attentive waitress and ask for some sauce on the side. Once she was done schooling me on my pronunciation of "tzatziki" in front of the other customers she headed back into the kitchen. About three minutes later she appears with a small serving of...sour cream.
Yeah, that's right, sour cream.
There's no sour cream in tzatziki sauce. None at all. It's made with yogurt.
What do I make of this?
I don't think they had any tzatziki sauce on hand. So what do they do? Send it out without it hoping I won't notice it's missing and then the waitress/speech coach brings me some sour cream when I point out it's missing. I have an idea she knows the difference between the two.
Playing people for a fool is no way to cultivate future business.
There's far too many good places to eat in Black Mountain to continue patronizing this establishment. They won't see me again.
I took the sandwich home and then fed it to my neighbor's dog.
She thought it...
Read moreAfter a 10 hour drive, we made it into town for a delicious meal. We were greeted by a very rushed hostess when we walked into the restaurant. The 45 wait was understandable and we were prepared to wait. However, the hostess stated “you can wait in your car.” As we were walking out of the door to head to our car, the manager walked out and said “excuse me, you are in the way and we need to keep the area clear.” Meanwhile, it’s pouring rain and we were waiting for the rain to let up to head to our cars (there were 8 of us). We were then greeted by the same hostess who then rolled her eyes at me and then proceeded to walk through the door. Several People in our party were displeased with the “warm greeting.” We felt our business was not needed nor wanted. Very disappointed with how we were treated from the beginning, I walked inside to let the host know we were planning to leave. It turns out the person who gave us the warm greeting was in fact the manager of the establishment. I was surprised that a person who was promoted to this position treated us with the upmost disrespect. It would be very hard for us to enjoy a meal with how poorly we were treated as soon as we walked into the door. I hope they can fix it for future guests. Unfortunately we will not be back...
