I have eaten at and ordered take out for large parties from 622 North for years and usually had a great experience. Recently though it appears things have taken a turn for the worse and the manner I was treated recently was patronizing and uncharacteristic. On Jan 10th I attempted to order delivery but something wasn’t jiving between the website and the restaurant so I called. The gentleman that answered, while having a very friendly voice, was sarcastic and flippant with me but I eventually placed an order for pickup. Upon arrival I stood there for 5 - 10 minutes until finally the manager, who was sitting nearby saw me, came over, I paid, then left. As I walked out, the guy that was supposed to be attending the front area runs outside and calls out to me (same voice from the the phone call) and says “my friend, you know you have to pay for that!” I respond that I did pay “my friend” and he’s like, uh ok. No apology or other comment, just goes back in. Condescending, patronizing, and accuses me of being a thief. Silly me tried to order again, brunch for pick up this morning, to have two attempts rejected, then no answer when I call. Maybe “my friend” was managing the online orders and phone again today. I get that these are hard times for most people and staffing is a huge problem for restaurants but that is the kind of treatment that loses long...
Read moreMy wife and I go (went) to this restaurant all the time; at least once a month for the past year, usually twice. The service and quality of the food has declined dramatically over the past 2 to 3 months, to the point that I haven't been back.
I ate the best pork chops I've ever had there, they had phenomenal soups, and the risotto cakes were to die for. Crispy and creamy, just amazing. However, we went in October (2011) and my wife got inadequately cooked food, mine was bland, and I had to tell the waiter I wasn't paying for the dessert because it was burned and inedible. He just looked at me and said, "Oh, it's burnt?" Yeah, just look at it. The crust was black and the top was dark brown. It was a brick. I took my mother there for brunch in November hoping that it was just a fluke, and the food was so bad my mom couldn't finish. We were talking about how bad the food was when the waitress (won't name names, but she works there a lot), came up and just stood there listening to us talk. She was overbearing and butted in at every instance, and needless to say I was mortified.
My wife and I eat out a lot, and this was, by far, the best restaurant in town. Sad to see it decline, but as a consumer you speak with your wallet, and I'm trying to shout, "Get it together!" I want to come back, I really do, but I can't see that happening...
Read moreDear chef, because it was Mother's day, and I was in the company of my wife and daughter, I was unable to discuss with you my dining experience last night. Should my family be more accepting of me providing feedback to the chef while we are still at the table? I think they should, but experience has taught me well, and I decided to defer my feedback until now. I know that you are capable of preparing perfectly acceptable food because the other three meals were fine. Somehow I drew the short straw tonight and made the fateful mistake of ordering meatloaf. What I received was closer to a hockey puck (let's go Caps!) with a topping of bottled barbeque sauce. Seriously, you could have just told me it was past it's prime and I would have been happy to order something else. Instead, I was served a science experiment in nuclear fusion. 30 minutes more in the oven and I would have had a giant diamond to take home instead of a lump of charred carbon. Bad luck I guess.... And those fried onion strings on top, I used them to replace my shoestrings so at least I have something lasting to help me remember the meal! I'm a glass half full kind of guy.... The beer was...
